Even if you are local, I can't ever see going more than 2 days to this park per year. The only reason I would ever go more than once a year would be for the seasonal changes. Even then, I'd just plan to go around the season that interested me (Halloween or Christmas).

Why deal with the blackout dates if you don't have to?

When we went, we got everything we wanted to do done in about 8hrs and there was literally nothing the kids wanted to ride again other than the main Harry Potter ride. Granted, this was before Super Mario, hence my 2 days comment
Maybe someone enjoys the park more than you did? You could imagine that scenario occurring, yes?

Single day pass is $150 during the summer so for $20 more you can get 11 more months to go again if you want to. It's a good deal if you plan on going more than once in that time. They have the same price on the Universal site but only for 9 months.

This is a great deal (better if it was Universal Fl)
Why , well so what about the blackout dates, this is when the park is packed - long lines.

Still have many weekends and off days to go.

Universal is souch better than Disney, especially Disney CA. US has better rides, better food and more up-to-date themes (Mario, Zelda, Harry Potter)

And Disney's prices are outrageous

We live 5 mins away from the park. Drive up without a reservation, park, on our first ride in 10 mins. About 40000x easier than the Disney BS, and I've had Disney passes since 1990.

Universal is a great place to go ride one or two things, drink a Butterbeer, etc. If you're living close by, it's great.

And for those barking, 50 bucks more gets you 80 more days without blackout and another month. Choose wisely.

Ive also seen nothing but really bad reviews of the mario world. Long long long lines and little to do. The one "rollercoaster" is just a motion ride.

July 1-31st blackout dates 😂

Also... Since when is $170 A DEAL? these prices are out of control

"Season pass may work for residents outside of California if they plan to visit"

Does anyone know FOR SURE?

Would hate to fly there and then discover that it doesn't work for non-California residents.

As someone who has had annual passes here for a few years.. I can't really recommend Universal anymore.

It used to be a "half-day themepark" since you could do everything there.. in half a day. But with it being so busy nowadays (some 90 minute, 2 hour, 3 hour, 4 hour wait times) it's just not worth it.

There are only about 10 rides there, and about half are for kids:

Kids rides:

Despicable Me
Harry Potter (rollercoaster)
Silly Swirly
Secret Life of Pets

Other rides:
Tram
Harry Potter
Jurassic World
Mario Kart
Revenge of the Mummy
Simpsons Ride
Transformers

The rides are decent for the most part, but it's limited. Especially when you're waiting in line for 1-2-3-4 hours at times.

The tram is probably the best part of it all.

Besides the blackout dates, you also have to deal with parking (another $20-30/day?)
The "Silver Pass" is probably the best option, for about $50 more, which has many more dates available to go on, and free parking

EDIT: it looks like free parking is only on gold/platinum, and prices went up ;(

Fyi, silver doesn't include free parking, only for gold and platinum.

Good catch! I thought I had "Silver" before, but it looks like it's actually Gold. Although, when I bought it - price was $250 -- it looks to have jumped about $60 since then!

Does anyone know what happens if you're not able to visit before the stated May 22 first visit date in the fine print?
