I am experienced and I still go for the torque wrench, what feels tight with a standard length ratchet will feel different with a long handle ratchet, whereas the torque wrench will keep it much more consistent. When I'm working on brakes, wheels, or internal engine components, I like to make sure it's torqued to spec so there's no question later what a noise was and if it was potentially a bolt that has worked loose because "it felt like it was tight".

It's also ridiculously easy to over torque and stretch/snap smaller bolts, which is where the inch lb and 5-70 ft lb torque wrenches really shine.

I'm glad you feel confident in what you think is tight, but that is also the mindset that keeps me working on my own equipment with my torque wrenches.

Just buy the Harbor Freight one. They are cheap and if you have an issue you can take it back to the store for a new one and be back to work the same day.

I never found a need for torque wrenches, if u are really experienced like I am, u don't need this tool, u can feel when it's tight
At what I do for work not only is there a need for a torque wrench it's also a requirement. You are then able to show that the work has been performed to manufacturer standards. Honestly it doesn't really add any time to the job so why not take the extra step?

For a brake job on a 2013 Lexus RX350, including removing and re-torquing the wheel nuts, you'll need a few tools including a torque wrench. Here's a brief guide:

Torque Wrench
You should look for a torque wrench that suits the specific torque requirements for the wheel lug nuts and brake caliper mounting bolts of your vehicle. For the 2013 Lexus RX350:

Wheel Lug Nuts: Typically, the torque requirement for these is around 76 to 83 ft-lbs (foot-pounds). It's crucial to refer to the vehicle's service manual for the exact specification.
Brake Caliper Mounting Bolts: These can vary, but are usually torqued to around 25 to 35 ft-lbs for the caliper guide pins and more for the caliper bracket bolts, often in the range of 70 to 80 ft-lbs or higher. Again, consult the vehicle's service manual for the precise figures.
Given these ranges, a torque wrench that can accurately measure and apply within a range of at least 20 to 100 ft-lbs would be suitable for both tasks. Many mechanics find a 1/2-inch drive torque wrench to be versatile for such tasks, along with the appropriate sockets for the lug nuts and bolts you'll be working with.

Additional Tools
Lug Wrench or Impact Wrench: To initially loosen and finally tighten the lug nuts. If you're manually tightening, you'll finish with the torque wrench for accuracy.
Jack and Jack Stands: To safely lift and support the vehicle while you're working on the brakes.
Socket Set: Make sure you have sockets that fit the wheel lug nuts and any other bolts you'll need to remove. A set with both metric and SAE sizes could be beneficial.
Brake Caliper Compressor Tool: If you're replacing the brake pads, you'll need this tool to retract the piston inside the brake caliper.
Tips
Never Used a Torque Wrench Before? Make sure to read the instructions carefully. The basic idea is to tighten the bolt or nut until the wrench clicks, indicating you've reached the preset torque.
Safety First: Always ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported on jack stands before starting any work. Never rely on a jack alone to support the vehicle.
Consult the Manual: Your Lexus service manual will have specific instructions and torque specifications for every step of the brake job. If you don't have a physical copy, you might find one online.

Front Brakes: A tutorial on how to replace front brakes (pads and rotors) on a 2010-2015 Lexus RX350 can be found on YouTube. This video should give you a good overview of the steps involved, tools needed, and important precautions to take. You can watch it hereYouTUBE [youtube.com]
[/URL]
Rear Brakes: There's also a detailed tutorial on how to change the rear brake pads and rotors on a Lexus GS350, F Sport, and RX350. While it specifically mentions the GS350, the process should be quite similar for your RX350, especially since these models share many components and designs. This video can be accessed here (YouTube [youtube.com]).
Thank you very much for indepth response. Will order the other stuff mentioned in addition to 1/2" 10 to 150 ftlb torque wrench. I used to think I need a different range for small ranges like 25 to 35 ft lb as torque wrench are bad at extreme lower and higher range

I bought the 1/2 inch drive torque wrench to 150 foot pounds for a job replacing a timing belt, including cam seals and water pump on a Highlander. The crankshaft sprocket bolt was frozen and this wrench was probably not the best choice to break it free, but my other wrenches got bent and not even an impact wrench could free the bolt This wrench, plus a pipe for a breaker bar, using the belt method to keep the shaft from moving was the only way. Borderline hernia with both feet for leverage and a steroid jerk that would make Arnold proud finally broke it free and this wrench was unharmed and still gave me accurate torque clicks afterwards. Bonus story: Amazon sent me a case by mistake rather than the one that I ordered. The company was grateful to get the other five back and gave me a nice rebate in appreciation. Very good people and they make a great product.

These are good prices on budget torque wrenches, but be sure to check out Pittsburg Pro from Harber Freight too. There's a video on Youtube where a guy (Tools Tested is the name of the channel) independently tested a bunch of budget wrenches, including Lexivon and Pittsburg Pro. Bottom line, surprisingly the Pittsburgs were just as accurate.

This was interesting. Guy stated Pittsburgh is better than the lexivon

Yes, super interesting. There's another vid where he tests 5 different Pittsburg's (same exact model) to see if there's much variability between them. Basically, he was wondering if he got lucky with the first Pittsburg he tested against other budget brands. Bottom line, they were all accurate within +/- 4%.

Here's the vid: https://youtu.be/x0YkgHDhpyo?si=rc7Yt_iIcjrH8Tcp

Its funny how he says how surprised he was. Who would have thought? If Pittsburgs were $40 and went on sale for $20, they'd be front page on SD. But that doesn't mean every day price of $20 isn't a great deal for a fairly accurate wrench suitable for a lot of applications.

I have both and this feels much higher quality than the cheapest harbor freight ones which feel janky and rattle a lot. That said they both perform exactly the same.

This looks familiar.

Ive had a version of this wrench in my garage for a couple years now. Ive used mine many times, from 15 to 90ftlbs in automotive/motorcycle applications and its been solid so far..FWIW.

I own a few Lexivon oddball socket sets (Torx, etc.) so I decided to try their torque wrenches. I bought the 3/8 version to use while working on engines at a dealership. It broke within a few days. I bought a Tekton to replace it and have used that one thousands of times with no issues.

The 1/2" 250 ft-lbs version of this lasted me about 2 years and 10 uses before it completely lost the "click" It would have cost more to fix or recalibrate than simply replace.

Get the harbor freight one and get the electronic one there too. Always good to have a second opinion.

On a periodic basis you're suppose to check the calibration is still within range - aside from tying a bunch of dumbells or weight plates, is there an easier way to check calibration is still okay?

After having 3 different click type torque wrenches, and questioning the accuracy, I finally bit the bullet and picked up the icon split beam torque wrench. Much happier with that. Retails about $140 but can usually be had with a 15-20% coupon. These are easier to set, keep calibration, have a slim head that works great with low profile sockets and have an easy in-store lifetime warranty.
