I am experienced and I still go for the torque wrench, what feels tight with a standard length ratchet will feel different with a long handle ratchet, whereas the torque wrench will keep it much more consistent. When I'm working on brakes, wheels, or internal engine components, I like to make sure it's torqued to spec so there's no question later what a noise was and if it was potentially a bolt that has worked loose because "it felt like it was tight".

It's also ridiculously easy to over torque and stretch/snap smaller bolts, which is where the inch lb and 5-70 ft lb torque wrenches really shine.

I'm glad you feel confident in what you think is tight, but that is also the mindset that keeps me working on my own equipment with my torque wrenches.

Just buy the Harbor Freight one. They are cheap and if you have an issue you can take it back to the store for a new one and be back to work the same day.

On a periodic basis you're suppose to check the calibration is still within range - aside from tying a bunch of dumbells or weight plates, is there an easier way to check calibration is still okay?
There's also luggage scales, taking it to a weights/measures/calibration shops or using a digital torque adapter.

These look exactly like the Pittsburgh wrenches at Harbor Freight.

Also, I love the torque Nazis in this thread. You guys are hilarious. Most things on a car need common sense and a ratchet, not a torque wrench, and some things (cylinder heads) need a torque wrench. Nobody is looking up torque specs for radiator bolts.

I've always wondered how it happens where you see a car driving and then all of a sudden, one of the wheels pops off and starts rolling along side the car. Maybe this is it

Trash brand. Trash tools. Sponsored post.
I am the proud owner of a 1/2" Drive Torque Wrench sporting the quality brand of Aldi...I bought it ~>10 years ago, and it seems fine for torquing blade bolts from my lawn mower! It cost~~$15 .

So you can only use the 1/4 wrench for bikes? I bought one couple of months and used it for the my 2022 Hyundai Tucson spark plugs.

I purchased one of these last time it was on sale. It seems to work, but it doesn't really click like ones I used in the past. The wrench just kind of gives and doesn't make much sound. I don't know if that is normal or I got a dud.

Yeah, are these any better or just rebranded? HF 3/8 is going on sale for 11.99 later this week.

Torquing is a sensitive topic, some may get offended, if you do, use a torque wrench ;-)

Pretty sure the engineers who designed your car and any competent mechanic would disagree and torque to spec

LMAO. Keep telling yourself that. If somebody other than you has worked on your car, most of the bolts were not finished with a torque wrench.
