I like these but they're significantly more expensive without free shipping. You're looking at about $150 more for the HSU.
The power differences are a moot point on paper. The klipsch drivers where built with a higher sensitivity as to not need higher power rated amps. Both of these subs produce about the same dbs at their lowest rated hz.. and I've never heard a difference between a lower thd amp to a higher one...

So what exactly is much better about the speedwoofer 12s? Maybe the built in tunning options? But I wouldn't pay $200 more for that.
In this case, the Klipsch competes with the Speedwoofer 12s. Very similar specs but the speedwoofer is $200 more....

Quote from fourml8r :
THD is not an issue when it is low, but can be as it gets to very high levels.

independent testing of the 1600 model, top model in the range (No professional measurements on this specific 1200 model to find). results showing very high levels are attached.
I don't know what you are lisening to but that drum thump or movie explosion will sound good even with high THD. Subs shake walls , floors, pictures on the wall, your coffee cup on the table and all that transmission through different media creates ......distortion. In a lab with full sound proofing sure but in a typical home your average listener won't be able to tell the difference. Of course every commenter commenting on a video source has 20/5 vision and can see individual pixels and every commenter on speakers can hear .000001 HZ frequency deviations and every commenter on wine can tell the vintage like James bond. Not really they are just people parroting what they read somewhere. I just watched a video on 4k projectors vs native 4K and the video had to magnify a single 4K pixel up to show the difference and yep once again the whole point of watching something in 4K is you can't see the individual pixels. Point is for the average user they won't notice a difference there either!
