BONUS1500 Promo code during account creation to be eligible. I've personally just gone through this today, and the promo was auto-applied, showing in top banner of each page as I went through the signup. They almost caught me to create a new Savings account too with a single click, but skipped that one. On the following screen it showed me my new account and routing numbers, along with the promo details, the code and terms listed yet again.
No published expiry date at this time.

Qualifying deposit will be judged by the balance in your account from days 15-105 of account opening. For example, if you had funded the account with $50 on day 2, but then transferred $99,950 on day 14, you're eligible for $1500 bonus back in your account by day 165 of account opening. Alternatively, if you added $20,001 on day 2 and left it there until withdrawing $2 on day 104, you will receive a $0 bonus.

Surprised that nobody in this thread even understands what's going on. For $20,000, 4.35% APY over 3 months is $217.50, however you're also getting a $300 bonus, so you're getting $517.50 for 3 months. That equates to10.35% APY.

This is the same for the other deposit amounts.
Doesn't look like it if you currently have one.
They clearly address that at the beginning of the footnotes at bottom of main deal page, listing multiple account types open with them "on or after January 1, 2022" as making you ineligible for this offer. I'd encourage all to RTFM for straightforward questions like these.
There are quite a few other High Yield Savings Accounts that don't have such restrictions and have higher rates of return. Here's a list I compiled this morning:

APY
Amex: 4.35
Sofi: 4.6, $300 bonus direct deposit
Synchrony: 4.75
Wealthfront: 5.00 (get .5 bonus for 3 months if you refer a friend)
Citbank: 5.05 (5k minimum deposit)
Texas capital: 5.1
Everbank: 5.15
Ufb direct: 5.25
Western alliance: 5.36

For 100k you would earn $5,360 per year at Western versus $4,350 + 1500 = $5,850 with the Capital One deal. If you have less than 100k to invest the other options are better.

This is a great deal. Keep in mind you get the 4.35% during the wait time. Requires 105 days (15+90) of wait time. If you divide the bonus by 3.5 and interest it beats any high yield account by a large margin. If you go below initial investment you get lower tier bonus or nothing. After that you can move $ and wait to be paid within 60 days. I did this and once wait was over switched to T Bills. Plan to open another account somewhere else eventually, but the online banks all seem like a gamble even though they are FDIC. Takes time for new bank to take over the failed bank. They have a max of I believe 90 days to do it, but usually takes 15-30 days. The T Bill is as safe as it gets imho.

I'm currently using wealthfront. 5% with easy deposits and withdrawals. If I refer someone both of us get 3 months of an extra 0.5%. So 5.5 % is pretty legit. Even 5% is pretty legit on its own.

Anyone know when this promo will end?

Also, what's the quickest way to move 80k from one bank account to the other?

Thanks!

If transferring the money from another bank's savings account before the end of the month, one may lose the month's interest on that account. Then again if transferring out from Capital One before the end of the month? Today is only the 5th. (An example from the FAQ of another bank regarding what I am talking about is copied below; or am I misinterpreting it and it applies only to closing the account, not simply transferring money out?)

Compounding And Crediting Of Interest: Interest will be compounded on a daily basis and credited to your Account on the last day of the month. The balance on which interest is computed for your Account is determined by the daily balance method, which applies a daily periodic rate to the balance in the Account. If you close your Account before interest is credited, you will not receive the accrued interest.

After a few rereads, I prefer your interpretation of their terms - better safe than sorry! I've revised my scenarios to better reflect, if you wouldn't mind having another look and respond back if our understanding is better aligned?

Will help to derisk for some and avoid losing the bonus they were expecting due to any loophoes!

Still waaaaaay better than vast majority of competing accounts. And you can move your money out at any time. The 4.35% is essentially a standard for the account, rather than tied to the initial promo bonus.

The actual interest for holding it 3 months is 10%. That is factored in thr bonus and on the interest on 100k.

Can you please provide the site where I can back calculate the effective ROR you got 10.35%? I have been looking for it for quite some time . Many thanks!

as a primary or secondary account holder with Capital One on or after January 1, 2022, you will be ineligible for the bonus. If your account is in default, closed or suspended, or otherwise not in good standing, you will not receive the bonus.

TBIL ETF [ustreasuryetf.com] current yield is 5.42%
I would buy a t-bill directly (ie: from schwab or Fidelity) than the eft.
interest on t-bills are state and local tax free.
it's easy to set up three 3month t-bill auto-renew ladder.

also, Expense Ratio 0.15% EEK!

I brought some 10-20 years FHLB and FHLMC agency bonds which gives around 6-6.4% interest. yes it is 10-20 years but they are callable and they usually liquidate the assets within a year.
Just did a quick search and it seems those are NOT FDIC insured. Not sure if I would feel comfortable to put money there for 10+ years
