BONUS1500 Promo code during account creation to be eligible. I've personally just gone through this today, and the promo was auto-applied, showing in top banner of each page as I went through the signup. They almost caught me to create a new Savings account too with a single click, but skipped that one. On the following screen it showed me my new account and routing numbers, along with the promo details, the code and terms listed yet again.
No published expiry date at this time.

Qualifying deposit will be judged by the balance in your account from days 15-105 of account opening. For example, if you had funded the account with $50 on day 2, but then transferred $99,950 on day 14, you're eligible for $1500 bonus back in your account by day 165 of account opening. Alternatively, if you added $20,001 on day 2 and left it there until withdrawing $2 on day 104, you will receive a $0 bonus.

Surprised that nobody in this thread even understands what's going on. For $20,000, 4.35% APY over 3 months is $217.50, however you're also getting a $300 bonus, so you're getting $517.50 for 3 months. That equates to10.35% APY.

This is the same for the other deposit amounts.
Doesn't look like it if you currently have one.
They clearly address that at the beginning of the footnotes at bottom of main deal page, listing multiple account types open with them "on or after January 1, 2022" as making you ineligible for this offer. I'd encourage all to RTFM for straightforward questions like these.
There are quite a few other High Yield Savings Accounts that don't have such restrictions and have higher rates of return. Here's a list I compiled this morning:

APY
Amex: 4.35
Sofi: 4.6, $300 bonus direct deposit
Synchrony: 4.75
Wealthfront: 5.00 (get .5 bonus for 3 months if you refer a friend)
Citbank: 5.05 (5k minimum deposit)
Texas capital: 5.1
Everbank: 5.15
Ufb direct: 5.25
Western alliance: 5.36

For 100k you would earn $5,360 per year at Western versus $4,350 + 1500 = $5,850 with the Capital One deal. If you have less than 100k to invest the other options are better.

For those curious - paid out after 105 days (:

Did you move the whole 100K at once from an external (nicknamed?) account? I am just not sure if it's ok to transfer such a huge amount at once.

Currently, in the market for a bank to hold some funds... any drawbacks to leaving about 50K after the 90 days?

Anyone?

As others have suggested, there are banks paying higher interest rates or brokerages offering mutual funds that have tax equivalent yields that are higher. You could even buy short-term treasury bills. I currently have Capital One credit cards and CDs so I have no problem keeping my funds at Capital One for simplicity.

Thanks! I will consider moving some free cash there for the improved rate. Had an e-trade account long ago and I had to write in and ask them for my welcome bonus after qualifying, but otherwise it seemed okay.

Am I eligible for this offer?

I ran this analysis of 5.25% no bonus vs. 4.35% w/ bonus

Month 5.25%Int 4.35%Int
1 $437.50 $362.50
2 $437.50 $362.50
3 $437.50 $362.50
4 $437.50 $362.50
5 $437.50 $362.50
Bonus $0.00 $1,500.00

$2,187.50 $3,312.50

Seems like we'd come out ahead letting Capital One hold the money for 5 months.
The bonus pays per the T&C's -- 15 day funding, then 90 day holding. Got to keep the funds above the threshold in the holding period. I moved out my fund before I received the bonus in the fall. And it paid very quick. The interest rate isn't bad if you don't have another use for it after the promo period.

Awesome! Thank you for the reply. I think I will keep it in there for simplicity because I did not realize I had about 50K in one account earning absolutely no interest. 🤦🏽 ♂️

Can't you move funds (once meeting the threshold to earn the bonus) via zelle? If so what's the talk about being difficult to move funds?

AMEX personal savings team will price match if you speak to them nicely, they did it for me for 6 months when Ally was running their 5.15% promo last year.
Can you elaborate? I currently have around $75k in Amex high interest savings. Are you saying they'll potentially up my interest rate if I call? Or only when opening a new account with them?

It's been 90 days since the funding date requirement and it has not hit yet. Does it take a few days to hit?

Yes, wired 100k from Fidelity account. Looks like it took a couple of days for it to become available.

And whats the benefit of getting there if mindset is still to save nickle and spend pennies.....this is standard problem of many who do not know how to live does not matter what they have.
People that have money don't hangout at SD wasting their time looking for cheap stuff. I don't know where the mindset that using SD meant being frugal came from, but it sounds delusional to me. I can understand if one is a reseller so it makes sense to keep using SD to make more money. Other than that, it's just bragging they've millions. Why, I don't know.
