Mine at 100% charge gets 175 miles of range (don't turn on the climate because that knocks it down to 160 miles), dealer says they are working on a fix. But won't look at the car.

You may want to look at the Hyundai Ioniq 6. Rated for 360 mile range on a 100% charge, and Hyundai's been doing $7,500 cashback to offset the ineligibility for federal credits. And if you're really lucky, your state won't charge sales tax—NJ didn't for mine.

Too bad insurance on this would be another $200

Until they make an EV which fully recharges in 15-20 mins (this is the time taken to refill gas, use the restroom and grab something to munch on while I'm on long trips) I'll be avoiding these for now. As it stands, Toyota's hydrogen engines look more promising.

getting back on topic, what are the biggest issues with this car? It seems like a good price for leasing an EV?
We lease this car and have been very happy with it. I would recommend it. To answer your question, this deal is for the base trim on a 2023. You may have a hard time finding one of these for sale. The mobile app is also terrible.

This thread should really just be deleted.

Unfortunately, most EV batteries weigh roughly 1,000 lbs, and the heavier ones are almost 2,000 lbs. Of course, none are currently standard either. So the idea of Swapping them isn't a very practical one.

It is just that EV is still such a small market share in the US vs China

So basically the dystopian nightmare version of a volume discount. Got it and thanks.
You have to opt in to the EV rate for home use. No tiers.

If they were selling their power back to the grid, then they were on the grid and would have been experiencing those same blackouts as everyone else on the grid. Unless they had some backup setup?
Well, maybe that part I'm wrong about but they were powered while the neighborhood wasn't.

I have a tesla model S P90D. I drive 18,000 miles a year. It directly replaced a car that did about 17mpg on premium gas (which currently costs $5.14 here). The math I used is vs a car that gets 20mpg on mid grade gas (was generous and called it $4/gallon). So about $3600 per year in gas would be my projected cost. My real cost is $600 extra in electricity per year. So about $3000 per year saved there.

Of course ymmv. This is compared to another performance sedan. If you're cross shopping a Solterra with a forester or something similar, your math will be different.
Please check my post.
I have a complete calculation with 18k miles and gas at $4 per gallon and an ICE sedan giving 25 mpg for city driving; I use my EV in city driving only never for long distance trips.

No.... it wasn't.

As was explained/debunked twice previously in this very thread.

The "results" are impossible from a scientific perspective.

But since I guess you couldn't be bothered to read the debunking the first 2 times, third time is a charm!

https://cleantechnica.com/2022/03...pollution/

Specifically, given the claimed mass of the pollution, and the known mass of tire treads, the tires would've been completely bald in 1358 miles to produce that amount of particulate matter.

Typical tires of course last 20-40 times longer than that.

Dr. McTurk suggests the cause of the errors in your "study" (apart from not bothering to do basic math on the mass of a tire) are that the Emissions Analytics study was accidentally measuring particulate matter emitted by other cars, that had settled on the road and then been kicked up by the tyres of the test car, rather than what was being shed from the tyres of the car undergoing the test

And beyond that of course it's not like gas cars don't use tires either.
Do you not understand the difference in mass per volume of gas vs solid?

Do you also not understand that EVs need to use a different tire compound than that of gas cars because of their significant increase in weight?

The fact that you mentioned "it's not like gas cars don't use tires either" shows you don't do your homework.

This is not to mention the mining environmental disasters for the batteries, the battery graveyards and the slave mining to boot. You are not on the right side of history as much as you'd like to think you are.

Ioniq 5s are like $250 a month, ioniq 6s are like 200. They get 100 more miles or range than these.

so, your credible source is a partisan/biased opinion piece haha. nice. i did some fact-checking using non-partisan sources against those claims and none of the energy/pricing or jobs data i saw supports the points made in that blog. but hey, why let reality ruin the narrative?

partisan idiocy ftw...
dude/dudette, you either did not read or you can't understand that's this article is from a govt. site, house ways and means: https://waysandmeans.house.gov/bi...consumers/ You posted nothing to counter.

Do not bother with this guy.

He is the classic Sheep who will regurgitate whatever is fed to him. Lacks the power to think and reason on his own. You can show him any evidence - I actually did by "showing" him the amount I save every year with a PV solar system and EV usage for all my local driving miles, but its hard to get anything across such people.

Can't find. 2023, wait a few months. It seems like ev's are going to be like going on firesale like hp touchpads soon. Every automaker thought they could be Tesla but they ended up rushing a crap product that they will have to take massive losses on.

Anyone know if you can get the tax credit on top of the lease to buy? I'm thinking ~$35k minus tax credits if so... 🤔
