Definitely not the highest quality light in the world, however, I don't think you can do any better for $10!
This flashlight has actually gotten quite a bit of praise on the budget light forums flashlight group.

Definitely not the highest quality light in the world, however, I don't think you can do any better for $10!
This flashlight has actually gotten quite a bit of praise on the budget light forums flashlight group.

I have this and it's a great little flashlight for this price. Magnet on the end. Can use AA or rechargeable lithium 14500 batteries. Great price to features to quality ratio.

I have this. I use to carry it around with me in my jean. The light, in general, is good. The problem I run into is that I tend to click the on switch all the time. This drains the battery almost daily. Now, it just set's in my desk draw for occasional use.

I think that 18650 is the most common type of lithium battery for flashlights.


This is a closeout. I see that newer models of flashlights from NICRON use 18650 batteries.

I stow these in cars, etc. for emergencies. The 250 lumen max output on lithium AA primaries is still decent (very little chance 14500s will be fresh enough after years without use), the magnetic tailcap and swivel-to-90 head can serve handsfree needs in a pinch, and it has an SOS mode. Wouldn't try to daily carry it—it's rather long for a single AA light, the swivel head would be annoying, and as @MONM5993 said, the proud button would probably get pocket-dialed quite often—but it checks a lot of boxes as a contingency light.

Can't think of why a magnet in your pocket would cause problems. Anyone have answers or thoughts on that?

As far as batteries go, yes an 18650 is often used for flashlights when going the rechargeable route, but it is a bigger size battery than a standard AA, probably twice as big. If you wanted to use a rechargeable battery in this light then a regular eneloop or some similar brand would work I expect.
