I have a number of these B&D 20v tools and most are not great except the drill and impact drivers which are fine for homeowner level use. The saws are underpowered and not great quality but the batteries and drill alone are well worth this. Sometimes you'll see the drill/driver combo with two batteries for around $50 and I bought a set for $25 on clearance once but this is a decent deal. They aren't Milwaukee or Dewalt level but again decent for light use around the house and 20v is a pretty great for this price point. From the photo this is their higher-level drill, they have a cheaper version. I'd suggest you buy this set and look for the impact with battery to fill out your DIY home kit.
That moment you realize DeWalt is made by black and decker
The price is pretty attractive compared to a similar set from any other brand. But if you can spend a little more/wait for a deal, I would go with a Ryobi set. I think they are better tools than BD and you'll be in a much bigger eco system if you need another tool in the future.

I have these, minus the reciprocating saw. Occasional (but on the heavier side) homeowner and automotive use. The light is nice - it's a light. The drill is fine. After 7 years. I even cooked the motor once and it still runs like a champ. The circular saw is mediocre, but I use it for quick cuts on things that don't need a ton of precision. I've got the B&D vaccuum as well (not part of this deal) that I'm happy with for in between cleanings. If you need tools like this, this is a great price.

Any good deals on brushless or non-brushless sets with 4.0Ah batteries?

Black and Decker batteries are more expensive than the pro brands. I bought the matrix and I regret it.

Buy an adapter and buy other batteries.

Didn't realize black and decker still sold tools, let alone cordless … seems this would be good for a kid's first set of real tools… or someone that just screws together Slickdeals that need assembly

The sawzaw and drill are decent. The circular saw has limited depth (5 1/2'' blade) and power, ok for short cuts with plywood, but not good for long cuts or anything thicker like a 2x4. It did come in handy for me for cutting some bad cedar planks off roof due to it's small size.

To me this can be a decent to good deal if someone still ok with the circular saw limitations, as well as the small 1.5ah batteries, and still missing an impact drill which i think essential 20v tool. This black and decker tool line I have found to be a lighter duty generally though than my ryobi's, and maybe someone else could speak how it compares to hart. So I'd generally lean to ryobi because very large eco system and higher quality in my experience for not that much more money.
I have that circular saw. It's "sufficient" for 2x pine lumber. That's about the end of it. However for this price it's justifiable.

Are you counting the use of adapter? If you search xxx 20v battery convert xxxx adapter, you can find many different kind of those in Amazon, ebay, etc.

No, and no. I guess you can get unlucky, but I have had good luck with the tools and especially batteries, which are just hard to kill. I have some that must be like 20 years old and while they don't really hold their charge well anymore, I can charge them up and use them afterwards just fine.

Got a very old weed eater that just won't die... The auto-extend function for the string works well too. Got a B&D pole saw that isn't all that bad either.

Trying to completely switch over to Makita otherwise this would have been a non-brainer.

As for crappiest tools... try HFT, lol.

That's a pretty big exaggeration. I use a couple of these with the BD Pole Chain Saw and used it for years to work on large limbs. One battery got me through about 20 minutes, swap to charger... charged battery and oil saw then off cutting again.

Also batteries (with a little modification) work with Porter Cable 20V tools.

BTW... BD, Porter Cable, and Dewalt all made by BD... but Dewalt takes a different battery.

4 tools and 2 batteries for $67 - great deal! Not as big an ecosystem as Ryobi, but lots of outdoor tools use these batteries.

They're a fairly easy retrofit with Porter Cable
