Golden Week is 29 April to May 5th. Avoid that week if you don't want to end up seeing things closed during your travel.

I flew with them in February and thought was a good low cost experience. They do weight your bags (7kg allowance) but plane was new and service was great and punctual. Check in is only at the counter in the airport. Paid $10 for food and was better than the any US based airline on the flight from Tokyo to LAX but the 7/11 on the airport there had also sushi for $6 that was even better. All in all was great.

$10 for all the food (2 meals and a snack on regular flight, I think) during the flight from the US to Tokyo?

EDIT: After I wrote the comment above, I read the OP throughly and realized one meal is $11 which I think is very decent price for the hot meal Japanese airlines usually serve on the flight to Japan.

Another question for you. Did you only buy one meal on the 10+ long hour flight to Japan?
Hey I got some sushi from 7/11 and some extra snacks. I normally would not eat much anyway as the flight was just after lunch... the portion was fair but not huge lets say,

Oh and the food need to be ordered 72h before flight!

I took zipair last month and the experience is great. I love you can order food n drink thru the app and the price is super reasonable. Free wifi onboard but spotty, overall, the service is great, I don't see why I would pay more for things I don't need.

Absolutely hostile baggage policy. If you upgrade one checked bag to 25kg, all bags must be 25kg. Then if you need to add another small bag, they will charge you for another 25kg bag, even if only 10kg.

They will absolutely weigh your carry ons. All of them. 8kg limit isn't only for stowed carrying, also includes personal item.

you can actually fit alot in a personal item, up to 15 lbs. plus it's spring time so no heavy clothing. travel light and then purchase a carry-on returning for all your hello kitty stuff.

Too bad it's not Thailand. Japan is so boring to me.

Food is smoke and mirrors on most airlines. Too little and microwave meat is not ideal.
Would pay for healthier meal
