And what if someone wants to add more storage to their PC but they don't have any more nvme slots? Just ignore all those SATA ports that are included on every motherboard?

Not OP but there's a x4 pci express adapter that can adapt up to four nvme drives.
Personally, I'm still using 5TB hdd drive on my PC Big Grin

There's also an adapter that will give you 6x more SATA ports from the nvme slot as well...

The use cases are different but either way I think this is only really useful if you just only have a SATA port available, no nvme... At this price I can see why many would think it's not a great deal (I kind of agree, it should be half the price)

That's great but not all motherboards are equal. For example most B450 boards only have PCIE 2.0 for their x4 slot which is slow. Other boards only run it at x2 speed. And for those who have a micro ATX board, the GPU ends up covering the rest of the PCIE slots.
In other words, there are still plenty of use cases for SATA drives.

This is expensive for what it is, but old is up to debate. And, you haven't seen how much people are willing to pay for the old stuff. They can easily buy new stuff, but they pay for the old ones big time.

Good for updating old PCs. Even if you can add an NVME with a PCIe adapter, old bios usually don't allow NVME as a boot option unless you mod it.

For me, "an old PC" means it has IDE and floppy connectors.
