This is a more common problem with usb to ethernet or some other protocol adapters (e.g. wifi). The root of the problem is how windows handles the usb device controller. Not gonna endorse or bash this product, but a common fix for this is to block windows from applying automatic power savings to this device or the usb controller so windows doesn't put the device to sleep when idle. The problem usually arises when windows asks the device to wake up from idle and it just hangs up.
That one is standard 1 GbE, this one is 2.5 GbE. If you have the common 1G Ethernet hub (ie, don't have a 2.5G/5G/10G hub), they both will negotiate to 1G- no speed benefit, and not sure the reliability difference of the chip TP-Link is using.
When comparing to the Ugreen 4-1, this one adds USB hub ports, plus has a USB Type-A, then an adapter to use USB-C ports, which is proper when speed is only USB 3.0 (Type-A ports more common, USB-C ports prioritized for faster links)
RTL8156BG are newer, with the vague assurance note from Realtek:
"This controller improves upon the performance issues commonly associated with the RTL8156 and RTL8156B versions."
History: Known overheat issues with the original RTL8156, mostly gone in RTL8156B but replaced with intermittent disconnect / slowness issues linked to USB-power/sleep and buffer size, and the current RTL8156BG seems to be the best and mostly working (assuming the product itself has no weaker link/component in the chain).
Note that there are overheating issues with 2.5G/faster switching hubs. Throttling / disconnects might be prevented by adding fans inside/outside the case, where also attaching a small heatsink to the main chip makes the largest difference. The commercial hubs tend to have better cooling, so might revisit when 5G trickles way down in pricing.

You are correct - this Ugreen one has the same "REV_3104" HW ID.
My Asustor AS-U2.5G2 claims to have RTL8156B and its HW ID has "REV_3100"
Your (generic?) adapter (good deal!) shows a pic that identifies the PCB as from CableCreation. I have a plastic-shell USB-C version from CableCreation that is also ID'ed as 3104.
Edit: Yes, I also made the config change to not have it auto power down.
FYI, verified Ugreen's download site has the same driver version (Win10) as the latest on Realtek's site - Install_USB_Win10_10059_20_07272023_08042023:
The USB-C connector isn't holding / clicking-in all that well. It doesn't take much to disconnect, which is very common with commodity connectors.
Just figure out a way to strain-relief the connector- velcro-strap the body to an adjacent cable, or better yet, create a tension that presses the connector to the USB-C port.
otw, working well on Windows 10. I loaded the latest driver, 10059_20_07272023_08042023 (10.59.20.420), which can be downloaded from Ugreen or Realtek's sites.
YMMV with USB adapters/extenders/cables - only time (and a couple of earthquakes) will tell if connector intermittency is fixed ... or aggravated by 2x.

I bought a bunch of no-name USB ethernet adapters a few years ago and they were giving me worse performance than WiFi. Turns out they were dropping packets like crazy. The only one I bought that never dropped packets was an Aukey.
