This actually has 128GB SSD (vs 256GB in OP's description?!)

250 nits non-touch display
No backlit keyboard, no USB-C charging.
At $250, decent deal for general daily tasks given RAM upgradability.

Looks like a pretty good deal. Can you go to 32GB RAM?

I am looking at the product box and it indicates 8GB "On Board". According to Crucial memory configurator, this is only upgradable to 24GB.

At least better than 4GB on-board + 4GB SO-DIMM. Most users of this laptop would just need 16GB indeed.

i'm guessing it's a TN panel.. I'm hoping it's an IPS.

if it's TN.. it's tresh.. tn should be illegal. if it's IPS..i might get one. i need a cheap non-chromebook laptop.

edit; google says it's IPS

According to ASUS [asus.com], for 250 nits/45% NTSC, there are 2 variants. Not sure which one is this...

Yes, but YMMV on Switch/3DS depending on game. There is a handhelp with this chip: Ayaneo Air, so there are many benchmarks on YT.

Trash TN panel and too low storage. Just waste of money.

Comparing this to this https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-15-...om=/search
which would you go with?
I'm just using the laptop for travel at hotel stay, not day to day use.

I haven't seen good deals in entry level category lately. You might consider spending little more:
https://slickdeals.net/f/17414622-acer-aspire-3-15-6-touchscreen-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-7520u-fhd-1920-x-1080-windows-11-349-99
You will get 90 days return period and free second year warranty with Costco. Some ppl buying it for $260 from official Acer Refurbished Ebay store, but I would recommend getting new from Costco.
