This is an oil resistant powerstack battery. It has lithium pouch cells inside rather than cylindrical cells like 18650s. As a result, it can output more current and be more compact than a traditional power tool battery using 18650s.

I think the Powerstack would be great for circular saws- that was when I learned about these batteries. I used to cut lots of wood, plywood, etc; and my Metabo 18V saws kept on overheating after only 5 minutes of use. In the Youtube videos I've seen regarding Powerstacks - a DeWalt saw when used with the Powerstack battery can cut ~1.75 inch thick oak like butter. When the same saw was used with only a regular DeWalt battery - the saw was only able to cut that same piece of oak half-way before overheating (which then shuts down the saw from working). At $45, I think it'd be worth a try because the regular stuff is usually atleast $40 and up if you walk into a Lowes store.

It will work great for a few cuts, but it won't last very long. Should work for fine for cross cuts in 2x4s, but wouldn't do many ripping passes.

5ah or 6ah are great. They last a while and have enough current output for the tool to work well. The 5ah batteries seem to go on sale pretty often. They tend to be the best value.
