Be aware that these are the base M1 models with binned 7-core GPUs, only 2 ports and no touchID on the keyboard. I'd personally recommend spending the extra &100 on the 8-core GPU model with 4 ports and touchID (as well as Ethernet on the power cable).

Amazing deal for an incredible screen, dead silent operation, and fast speeds all around for non-gamers (and even some games are starting to appear for MacOS!!).

The only question: If it's worth another $50 to get the (admittedly, orange only) model with touchID (easier logins and authentications), 1/8th more GPU grunt, 2 more USBC ports, and an ethernet port in the power supply (which is surprisingly convenient!)

I'd say it IS worth another $50 for most people: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/imac...22Deals%22

(Just click on M1 8 Core and then the orange color to see the $850 price)

The best 'deal' is probably open box M1 8 GPU-core (touchID) for $800, excellent condition. That would be worth getting…

Pulled the trigger and bought this iMac. Our current iMac is a 2011. Thanks.

Can we see such a deal on iMac 24 inch M3 during Thanks giving?
Likely not. These M1 iMac deals are because they are (long) discontinued. The M3 iMac will only be a year old at Thanksgiving, and not likely receive a refresh until 2025 at the soonest.

Let me know if you see a difference. I have mid 2011 iMac and saw no difference at all. I returned it. I upgraded my mid 2011 with SSD drive and max 20gb ram. Maybe that was the difference.
A 2011 Mac will not run current MacOS, but most importantly does not get security updates.

It's good for another 10 years so just hold onto it.

The 2011 is slow to start and lags when moving between programs.. We don't do any video editing and not much beyond visiting web sites and occasionally print items such as Turbo Tax.
Turbo tax was not compatible with my 2012 Mac Mini since last year. I upgraded to Mac Studio.

We used the TT web site, not sure if that made a difference. TT remotely accessed our desktop. All went well.

People usually aren't competing on SSD space. The 8 gb ram sucks since it isn't easily upgradable but I think it's possible to upgrade on own breaking the warranty.
You have no idea what you are saying.

$50 is WELL worth it. Much easier to just touch your finger, than input a password. Pluss having more ports is never a bad thing. Ethernet is a nice bonus IF you're going to place the pc near your modem/router

Low voltage networking, sure. An I-MAC isn't exactly low voltage.

I jest a bit but POE+++ (4) is now 100W.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/109513

iMac M1 is now 80W-84W max.

You're mixing up wattage and voltage.

Yes, I jest. The point is POE has come a long way and can now power far more than most expected.

If you have a UDM SE that's only POE+, which is just 30W. Which Ubiquiti hardware do you have that does 100W, POE+++ 4?

If you're "jesting", keep your day job. You're no late-night comedian.

You mixed up wattage and voltage. I very clearly intended voltage, as that doesn't mix well with eithernet. Doesn't matter "how far" POE has come, we weren't talking about that. We were talking about including ethernet right alongside 120v/230v mains power.

I have a dream wall and my mistake it is only POE++ so 60 Watts.
