Just an FYI, and I've now noticed this with 3 of these phones. Though I don't keep them for long and just harvest the minutes for a few relatives to keep them at years of banked service, I have noticed that these things support wifi calling out of the box, enabled by default. Wifi calls are NOT using any of the 1200 minutes. Thought it was a fluke at first, but now that I've seen it with every one, wondering if I've been living under a rock and that's how it has always been with TF on the VZ network?

It has been this price for at least two months. I've avoided it because there have been reports that one or both phones do not come with the one year of service. Returning is an option (at your cost), but you need to do it within 30 days.
I bought this deal in April 2023, activated one line then. I just activated the 2nd line a few days ago (April 2024) and kept the same number. I now have another year of service (April 2025) with the calls/texts and data added together.

Wi-Fi calling and the complementary VOLTE (voice over LTE [4G/5G mobile data]) feature are recent additions to some handsets.

Both these plan-minutes saving technologies have varying degrees of support by the different carriers.
Verizon/Tracfone/Visible/etc. supports both.

Wi-Fi calling requires E911 registration.
VOLTE only works when both caller and receiver handsets support it.

So if you have lots of data bytes remaining in your plan or always network connected at work or home with good signal strength then take advantage of these features.

Also apps like Google Voice can use your phone's existing Wi-Fi or mobile data connection to make calls instead of using your plan minutes.

One disadvantage of using Wi-Fi calling or VOLTE is greater battery drain.

Heads up Tracfone via eBay only allows 2 transactions every 10 days.

How I know?

Bought a sim and another the day after, now can't buy phones 🤣

How are people activating these? Mine just arrived and came with no activation instructions. Tried going to the tracfone website myself to activate. It says "To use your new phone, you will need a plan.
  • Purchase a plan now
  • I've already purchased a plan card"
A plan card is not included in the box. This was bought through the link in the original post, not from a 3rd party reseller. Seems shady.

Go to their website and click on Activate. The plan is attached to the sim (already in the phone) - that's why you don't sim swap to a different phone. TF dropped the card a few years ago. I can't remember the new account steps anymore, just keep clicking through. Or you can create an account using an email address, then once in your account, click activate...from fuzzy memory. I think that's how I did it.

was it this?

Tracfone 6.5" Moto G Play 2-Pack Phones w/ 1500 Talk/ Text Data Plan

https://www.qvc.com/tracfone-65-m...19420.html

Does seem like a very good deal if you have a use for the phones. Got it for $64.94. Pretty sure these are locked for a year to Tracfone, so not sure if the phone is actually worth much if you are harvesting the service.
I also got the Orbis phones. Just added one of the years service to my existing lines and will harvest the other year tomorrow.

I agree. 3gb/32gb ram/storage. crappy processor. I plan on combining the two years of service and putting one of the phones in my sons glovebox as an emergency phone for a couple years. worth 65 bucks for that.

So I've done this deal 3 times now over 2 lines. Always have been able to complete everything online. Basically I activate phone 1 using one of my existing lines on an Android phone. Wait a day, activate the second phone using the same line. On day three, I reactivate the original Android phone for the line. Now, I'm back where I started with the same line on the same phone, but with 2 more years of minutes/data/service.

One thing, though, when I did this most recently in March via eBay, Tracfone did not bother to include a card like normal, with the IMEI number etc. you need to do the activation. I had to start the phone and get it from settings. Otherwise, everything worked as in the past.

You just need to obtain the IMEI number from the phone via settings or *#06#. With that you can do the on line activation.

When you turn the phone on for the first time, it will try to "activate" by basically doing nothing for the next 5 to 10 minutes. Don't worry about it. It will eventually fail and at that point you will be able to access setting and/or the dial pad to obtain the IMEI.

IMEI is also on a sticker underneath where the battery goes, and should be on the packaging also.

Good to know. In my case "on the packaging" was a sticker on the side of the white box the phones came in. Somehow missed it the first time.
