For those saying to buy them at Dollar Tree, the quality on those is absolute junk. I have a pair sitting in my drawer from there and while they technically "work", the clip that keeps them closed no longer functions so they just stay spread open the entire time.
I am familiar with the Oxo design. It is identical to the ones that others have stated wear out. This isn't a quality issue, if a product uses this type of center pin riveted in that also holds the locking tab in place it will wear out in the exact same pattern. I won't call it a design 'flaw' because I'm not aware of any way to fix it or of any designs that overcome it, and in fairness there are many people, like your case, for which it never raises problems. But for people who wear out tongs, cycling between brands that use the same design won't fix the issue permanently, at best it will only result in finding models that last a little bit longer.
There are differences in manufacturing precision, quality assurance, and material quality. I still don't think it's a person issue, e.g. if they buy one and it wears out quickly, that doesn't mean all products that use a rivet wear out at the same rate.
Sure they're not necessarily meant to last a lifetime but there's a profound difference between something wearing out in 3 months vs 10 years and the "higher quality" options are still like $15, nothing crazy

Ok I may have not been clear enough in my previous comment. I have literally used the Oxo tongs among others and observed them break (in person) in the same pattern as other brands. I like the Oxo tongs, but they are not designed to last 10 years for people who go through several tongs per month. This is not a materials or build issue, it is literally a consequence of how the joint and clip mechanism are made. This is not speculation, I've literally watched friends and family wear theirs out and observed the failure method afterwards.

The grabbing part is not reinforced by the length of the shafts. Just attached to the ends, however.
Yes, you can get just about any kitchen utensil from DT, but any discerning home cook knows there are quality differences amongst them.
