My experience is they don't stiffen , but the cheap paper-like fabric they make them from starts flaking then ripping from sun and wind
I understand however You need to define "too long". You were being broad. One have already understood it as few days more or less. That's why I said 7 days in my case of reference. I know you and I are not 100% correct here.
Additionally, Nobody is buying this to put on and off several times in one day lol
