Everyone just needs to learn how easy it is to make a large batch of cold brew for the week for far superior tasting coffee
Also, some people who have heart burn or acid indigestion can greatly benefit from drinking cold brew if they had to give it up since it is far less acidic than traditional hot brewed coffee. Each brew method has its place, but iced coffee should be cold brewed if you really want it for taste. If you just drink coffee for the caffeine then I guess it doesn't really matter
Lilily, you are pretty pompous in determining peoples' standards... not appreciated at all.

I just switched to dark roast, less caffeine, been free of indigestion since I did.

this machine isn't cold brew and has nothing to do with cold brew. It's a cheap one-glass cofffee maker that takes 4 minutes to brew iced coffee... sheees ... of course if we want to make cold brew we can. This device has nothing to do with cold brew. It would be like a slickdeal for and ICE car and people responding that you should buy an EV. These are apples and oranges.
I'm sure paulk11087 is aware of this, he was responding to Lilyly who was talking down to cold brew.

I don't get it....just brew coffee in your regular coffee pot a little stronger and then add ice. Why do you need a separate machine?
How do you increase the strength by that much in a regular drip coffee maker? There is no way easy way to increase the steeping time, e.g. the amount of time the grains are exposed to water. Adding more coffee grains is a waste of money. Short of buying an expensive coffee maker or using a manual stovetop percolator, you can't achieve the concentration that these iced coffee makers output. And that's key to making good iced coffee. The right concentration and right amount of ice are automatic using this device.

Two reasons. One, as I explained above, this brews coffee in the proper concentration for iced coffee. Much stronger that what can be achieved in a regular drip coffee maker. And two, sometimes you just want a cup of coffee, not a whole carafe. Brewing 4 cups when you only want one is a waste of coffee, water and energy. This achieves what a Keurig does for a fraction of the price and you don't have to use expensive pods. Just make sure to dilute the concentrated coffee with water if you don't use ice.

Plus you get an insulated tumbler that probably costs $5. This is an incredible deal. Am buying more as stocking stuffers.

I can increase the strength of the coffee because the coffee maker I use has a button to push up to 3 times to increase the strength and causes it to brew slower. I could also add more coffee to make it stronger. I like my coffee pretty weak anyway, so for me it's not a big problem. I understand for others that may not be the case.

Isn't dark roast much more acidic than light roast?

Tip: After making iced coffee, leave the coffee grains in the machine and do second run with some fresh water. This second coffee will be pretty weak so don't add ice. But it tastes great with a little sugar and milk -- sorta like a coffee-flavored drink instead of regular coffee.

By the name you would think, but it has the least amount of acidity. I still have to take a pepcid once a day, but I was taking it twice a day and could still feel indigestion. I also switched to higher quality coffee at work versus the maxwell house they had at work nod

I'm willing to bet that your coffee maker cost more than this. And the typical basic drip coffee maker. Why waste money by adding more coffee when this can do it with a normal scoop? Definitely one of my best purchases these past few months.
