The best price I could find for a Wifi 6 Router.

QA note: Shipping NLA. YMMV for "Buy in-store" purchase.

Been using this for more than a year. Has worked pretty great. I wish it was mesh though because the price is great, would buy a second.

I also ran this for about 2 years and no issues. Got rid of it when I went with T-Mobile Home Internet.
How's that working out for you? I have been running Tmobile with my Xfinity to compare the two and although it is about half the cost, it is not as fast or dependable as the Xfinity. Those are the only two choices in my area and I am thinking of returning the Tmobile setup as much as I wanted to go with them vs Xfinity.

I have had good success pairing up my router with the Arris SB S33.

I don't think these routers are a big upgrade over AC routers which can be found for really cheap nowadays and can be flashed with third party firmware. I got a Netgear R6400 for $10 a while back ago. Afaik, these wifi 6 routers aren't supported by OpenWRT, DD-WRT, or Fresh Tomato.
If you want OpenWRT and wifi 6 and look for the Mediatek MT7981/7986 chip, These are found in Ubiquiti UniFi 6 Plus, Zyxel NWA50AX Pro and Netgear WAX220. These are compatible with OpenWRT and are fast enough to take advantage of the AX features.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm still waiting to upgrade to wifi 6 because most devices don't support it. Nice to know there are routers supported by OpenWRT. I'm not sure I'd go back to using stock firmware.

I have att fiber as well and using their standard router, but the range isn't sufficient to cover one side of the house. Any suggestions on extending the range? Thanks!
For wifi, ATT makes an extender that pairs easily. You get it by logging into your account and ordering.

If your home is coax wired, MoCA is an outstanding solution. Solved my 2 story issue with no problems and it gets near ATT line speed (~920 up/down). Plus, good for no sensitive data in the air.

Good, just wish was a easy way to get the wireless added a mesh network/Wi-Fi extender as coverage to my metal shop about 50 yards away is spotty.

Apologies if you already know this, but Wifi 6 and Wifi 6E are different in that Wifi 6E uses the 6ghz frequency. AFAIK OpenWRT does not support 6ghz at this time, but has supported Wifi 6 (ax) for a while.

I would say the real world bandwidth increase from wifi 5 to wifi 6 is worth it. It's not just about WAN -> LAN speeds but intra LAN speeds as well (think local media server, file transfers, etc.). In addition having a solid router/ap with good radios is important for coverage and stability.

6E on the other hand has more constraints due to less coverage and penetration on the high frequency 6Ghz band.

I don't have the following device but I've read good things about the Gl.iNet GL-MT6000 Flint 2 which uses the MT7986 chip. I use their MT-3000 travel router (MT7981) and Gl.iNet's firmware is a GUI on top of OpenWRT. You should also be able to flash stock OpenWRT on them as well.

In the end I went with an Asus RT-AX88u Pro as it's compatible with Merlin which I'm used to and like. For my use case I wanted an AP with least two 2.5Gbps ports and VLAN support for WiFi.

I ordered on 4/24 after the deal expired but the site said 1 was in stock. Almost cancelled but the order finally shipped today.

Small win but I needed it.
