Sounds like a deal if you can transfer. But after AT&T promised me they wouldnt do a hard pull on my credit after transferring an old work phone, yet proceeded to do a hard pull.. I almost considered legal action. I wouldnt touch anything that company does with a 50 foot pole.

Not sure how much it helps, but I got e-mails from AT&T prompting me to register my online AT&T account and create a 4-8 digit pin after creating a brand new Tello # using my old phone's esim and providing that # for AT&T to port out. You'll probably get the manual with the instructions to do this or be prompted by AT&T when you first register and create the online account with them.

I checked the port status of said Tello # and it's still showing it's not done.
When I check my port status it says: Your transfer is in progress
You're all set. Your former service provider has approved your request to transfer

Anything wrong with US Mobile?
They are great; I use them for my real phone number (same service and coverage as Verizon Postpaid). I signed up on a second account just to port out and get this phone cheap, lol. USmobile charged me $4.99 for the new line that I am porting out

What is the benefit of porting a number in? Being able to do this online instead of in store?

I don't understand the second part of this:

"2. You can get a new number in a best buy store or you can use a tello number and port to ATT to do this all online but you would have to make sure porting is successful by going to https://www.att.com/portstatus/. This is important to verify. Unlock requests might have denied because of this."

Hopefully the port process will take way sooner than 3-5 business days?

EDIT: Funny part is in the app, it's saying "This device is unlock eligible." Probably just means it's detected there's no installment plan on it.

I wish I could trade our old S10 for a new s22 for a reasonable price. We are on Tmobile.

True. I got one from earlier deal and did all the steps, but still couldn't get it unclocked. Even though myAt&t account showed my unlocked phone, I couldn't get the unlock link because it said my phone was still registered on a AT&T account even when I had a different Sim in it. Thankfully I was able to use it with H20 mvno without unlocking, so just cancelled service

You can use it on ATT prepaid/MVNO without unlocking and yes there are reports of people not able to unlock but I guess something has gone wrong in some steps. As I mentioned ATT will send you a bill but it's not difficult at all to get rid of all charges. I guess that's what you need to do to get a heavily discounted phone.
Using it with H20 wireless without unlocking

Wouldn't that mean you'd just have to wait 60 days? Not the worst thing in the world.

Yes, with the porting you can do it online. I don't think many stores have stocks left anyway.

2. I believe some not being able to unlock using SIM swap might be related to porting was not complete but that's a wild guess but it's better to make sure porting is complete before you attempt the SIM swap.

so for BestBuy, I cannot do trade-in, if there is no phone available for pickup?

Can't they just ship the phone to the store?

This might be useful if AT&T had service. When you get out of the big cities they fail to compete. Verizon and T-Mobile are your choices if you want/need country wide coverage.

What are you talking about, at&t has the best coverage in rural America. Much better than T-Mobile, I think you might be mistaken but one of the main reasons to use att is coverage outside of big cities.

Can you buy 2 of the s23 under the same name using this deal?

Im willing to go to best buy to set up the numbers but my cousin would not want to come along.

I would just set up 2 new lines under my name.
