New iPhone, but problem with passcode

I just picked up a new iPhone today, a 15 pro. My old phone was an iPhone 13. I bought both phones at US cellular. When the rep at US cellular was about to transfer everything from my 13 to my 15, he asked that I enter the passcode on my old screen. The problem was the screen showed six spaces to enter the pass code, but the passcode I use is only four digits. We tried to enter the old passcode with just the four digits, and the phone would not take it, We also tried entering two lead zeros before my four digit passcode and that did not work also. My phone is now locked and I received the message that the next time I try something, if it fails, the lock will be for 24 hours.
It was suggested that my other option is to go directly to an Apple store to get help from them. I do need help because I do not want to use my new phone without having all my old information transferred from it. Does anyone know if there's anything else I can do short of taking that trip to the Apple store, which, for me will be a minimum of a half hour trip.
Thank you for any help you might be able to provide.

Assuming you didn't change default settings, all of your data should be on the Apple cloud so I would just take the new phone and let it sync with the Apple cloud, should essentially mirror your previous phone.
Maybe I'm missing something, doesn't make sense to me if you were unlocking with 4-digits on the old phone and all of a sudden it wants 6-digits... They clearly changed something...
Are you sure it's not asking you to establish a new passcode? In which case you used to be able to click a link below the new passcode entry that would allow you to drop it down to 4-digits or even setup with no passcode. At least that's how it works with iPadOS, I haven't used iOS in forever.
