Just wanted to verify my timeline for doing this is right.
- Buy Galaxy a14 on Monday.
- Two day shipping, arrives Wednesday. (Business Day #2)
- Pay off phone Wednesday and make a call/text. (Can I pay off phone earlier - before it arrives?)
- Cancel service Thursday (Business Day #3 - last day to avoid activation fee)
- Leave in drawer without service for 60 days, tweak apps, SD card, settings....
- Unlocked automatically
- Use on any USA network (probably US Mobile).

Yes. So definitely not worth for these phones.

i got all ur points, but it doesn't answer the question why higher rate = even higher prices.
I USED to believe lower rate = higher prices. But the past few yrs, everything got out of whack.
To me its still higher rate, lower prices. WHen they lower rates prices begin to go up. However, in this case, due to the shortage of houses avialable either because the banks are holding inventory or not building new homes fast enough, or a combination of both, from labor/skill losses during the last few years, this is still proped up by increasing house value. It skews the normal pattern, kind of normalizing the pattern, with still a positive up trend in prices, is my gut feeling.

Anyways, I was interested in this deal, after confusing back and forth you take the monthly cost x 36 thats your pay off amount, and the only reasonable one is the 12 and its sold out. I can't complain though I was in on the 13 mini deal wish I had gotten more.

added my credit card to the website billing center. then called 611 or that 800/888 number and said "pay off device". Automated system processed it. No need to talk to any person.
Thumbs up as I followed your advice and it worked perfectly.

Phone was activated during setup. I made a call just in case. Added credit card using My Verizon app. Called 800-922-0204 and said "pay off device" came up with $36 payoff (Sam. A42) and processed directly without an agent. Hung up and called back and said "disconnect my service" got transferred to agent (Angel) and she was able to disconnect service immediately (took about 10 min, asked several questions etc.) She said it would take 1 week to re-calculate the bill. Immediately after hanging up I tried making a call and it said I didn't have any service. If I log into my Verizon acct it says my service is disconnected, but still shows $122 due. I expect that'll change within the week.

what was the pay off amount?
Yes, you need to cancel your service to avoid the activation charge and first months service charge.

Decent storage on a few of these, but they are so mind-numbingly sluggish that you'll never use them long enough to fill up the drives.

So no need to pay anything besides the $1x 36? Nothing remaining balance!
how can you pay off full online via walmart.com? I did not see any such options.

After my iPhone 12 deal was completed. I placed a new order.
The 2 x S22+ and 1 x S23+ I received from Walmart weren't activated. Seems like Walmart just scanned the UPC and shipped it to me.
Calling Verizon and giving them the number generated at the time of checkout wasn't helpful. Verizon said it comes back as a "business line" and that my SSN didn't pull up any active account.
Tested the phones with non VZW SIM's and they were locked.

So basically I'm stuck with these locked devices since they'll never be able to be "activated".
Not sure how the bill is going to look like. Do they just bill me for the phone or they bill me activation and service? Or is it like the "free" iphones from last year.

Does anybody know if I activate these locked phones from a new account that's setup independently of the phone purchase, would that start the 60 day unlock timer?

I'll keep these for trade in or resale.
Last time I had a similar issue with a prepaid Tracfone 6A I returned those.

I think they can be done as BYOD. That happened to one of my orders and that is what CS told me. I didn't do it though. They will send you a SIM in the mail.

Unlock is automatic after 60 days.
Edited to note that my Iphone 12 was unlocked the same day that it was paid off. Payoff was $99 for the IPhone 12 with no tax. We'll have to see what the monthly bill looks like next month.

lucky you.. maybe. wait it out and if after few weeks you sure there is no account accumulating bills at Verizon, you got free phones.
