Do you NEED one unit that is 72"? In my observation, you pay a premium on square inches for having these larger sizes.

The 46" standard duty tool chests can be regularly found for around $500. On sale as low as $400. If you bought two of them and put them side by side (or back to back) you'd have more square inches of flat surface area as well as more cubic inches of storage. That's just one example. In term of price per square inch, the smaller units actually seem to be a better bang for the buck. Even for the heavy duty.

I also think this is probably just the beginning of deals on tool chests. I remember there were a lot of deals around Father's Day last year. I bought 4 of the 62" adjustable top heavy duty boxes last year for $698 each around Father's Day.

This deal is probably as good as it gets for this particular model, but I would anticipate other Husky models going on sale in the next few weeks/months.

How does this compare with Sam's Club option at $479:

While this has more drawers than most, it's still ultimately a work bench/cabinet not a toolbox. It can work for tools but the space division isn't ideal for tool storage and it's probably pretty light duty at that price.

It was great a few years back when Home Depot was selling ones similar to this (but wood top) for $200 ... not going to see those deals ever again, I'm afraid.

I've been in the market for a tool chest but wanting a tall combo. Similar price point. Not sure which actually offers more storage. Guess I can calculate storage volume using the dimensions.

I got this 52" unit for $500 less than 6 months ago when the manager wanted to move some stock and gave me a great deal. I think it was being advertised for $798 at the time.

Inflation is crazy, I bought a larger husky unit with a pegboard and top shelf and power distribution for just under 700 back in 2019.
Not sure what a different box has to do with this one though. Those pegboard units usually have really awful drawer layouts for typical mechanic type use and no stainless tops.

And yeah, 30% tariffs + some moderate monetary inflation does that. This is at least another shot at $1k for a box that was also $1000 MSRP in 2019. This exact SKU (in red) was reviewed by Realtoolreviews on Youtube back in 2019 and it was $1000 at the time. I would know because I price shopped this one vs the U.S. General S2 and the USG was a much better built box for the same price back then.

Mine has this exact drawer layout with an added large storage box as well. Like I said, times have changed...

If you really need a 72inch roller than I would just get the HF Icon 72 inch, for up the money for the HF Icon 72inch is hard to beat. I wouldn't waste my time on the Husky.

I have 5 different Husky Tool benches/boxes as well as 3 Husky tables. If you are on the fence, you will not have buyers remorse. This is a fantastic price. I showed a small "hack" on my youtube channel you can do with the husky benches with adding a surge protector and rack underneath.

If you buy these tool benches, BE SURE to buy the cheap tool trays from amazon.... It will organize almost everything! you put in it that is small.

Icon may be better, but at 3x the cost, it sure as hell better be.

No. Black Friday has been a disappointment with these the last several years.

Not necessarily unless you're talking about this model specifically. I bought the "Tool Storage 52 in. W Heavy Duty Matte Black Tool Chest Combo" last Black Friday if you like the taller chests. Wasn't a massive steal, but it came out to around $900. Love it, too but holy hell is it heavy, just short of 450lbs.. They may come out with another BF drop again, but who knows.

The ICON is in a completely different league in build and price (3k MSRP) the US General is similar spec wise but the lowest it's been lately is 14 or 1500 after coupon IIRC but the new series 3 also just came out. Though as someone pointed out, you can save a lot by doing 2x smaller boxes or a box and chest on top if super wide drawers aren't critical to you, these big boxes pull a big premium presumably due to shipping and lower sales volume.
