Sure, but like lots of things in life, the reality seems to differ. I always seem to get credit for everything I throw in the envelope even if it's been several months. My guess is that because it takes THEM a while to process these, they don't bother really adhering to some "mailing date" because 1) there can be delays in the mail and 2) that would require them to track receipt and process very quickly on their end so a customer submission didn't 'time out' while sitting at their facility. Yes if I had a meaningful one like 20 dollars I might make sure to send it immediately but when I get them for 92 cents or whatever, I'm not rushing to take an envelope, take the time to sit down and print out the form, and slap a 68 cent stamp on it and walk it over to the blue mailbox a couple blocks away. I will wait and collect a handful of those first and do it all at once
Not true...I have Kirkland 0W-20 sitting in my garage.

also this price is really 19 bucks and change, and gets to 16.99 via the 11% rebate which is Menards store credit. again not a bad deal if you are a Menards shopper and will use the rebate another time
Kirkland is of course a good buy at $15 a jug, but only one flavor (5w20) and not all SD peeps have memberships. Can't beat Pennzoil in my experience.

Based on your post, I pulled up the latest ad on their website. There was no "paid" reference on any item in the ad. They do show a "sale price" and a "price after rebate". The ad also says
that the rebate is "in the form of a merchandise credit check" and that it is "valid on future in-store purchases only". Seems pretty clear to me. I would obviously prefer a check which could be deposited as cash but those aren't the term of sale.

I actually have an accounting background and there are other instances of rebates being in the form of credit on other purchases made.
Yes they asterisk the heck out of it, but my point remains... In no situation are you getting the advertised price. Think about the shopper who only goes once in their life for the deal here, show me how they get it for 16.99... It's impossible yet that's the "deal" in red print as it reads how much US dollars you are "saving" .

It's not possible to get the price advertised after rebate because it's not a traditional rebate, it's only on a future purchase as a coupon off certain items, and you even pay postage to receive it.

It's actually identical to "Kohl's Cash" or similar (without postage) but you never see Kohl's subtracting a future earned Kohl's cash from the advertised price, and they certainly don't call it a rebate and interchange it as if it's US dollars.

Far worse class actions out there than this would be. It's the definition of deceptive advertising. Harbor Freight got royally rolled compared to this, they were caught "deceiving" us by not leaving their prices high enough, long enough. Basically the sales were too often to justify the advertised savings over full price. They nearly went bankrupt over that. Now compare to what Menards is doing!

You DO get the advertised price if you use the credit. As you know, most people on this website are frugal, if not downright cheap. Me too. Usually, I focus on either the free-after-rebate items or things that I actually need and would buy anyway. So for the former, the items are free except for the very first purchase.

As to the comment about once in a lifetime, let's be realistic. Every retailer is marketing toward repeat customers. Other than maybe buying their own casket, who only goes to a place to buy something once in their life?

Regarding postage, while I would like Menards to have online submissions, they clearly aren't the only company requiring physical submissions. I buy the free-after-rewards Office Depot batteries (after price matching Amazon) and then use the rewards to buy forever stamps. So either the stamps or batteries are free depending on your perspective.

Menards could definitely make it easier on us but at least they did change and allow all rebates in one form and envelope. I recall the pain from early Black Friday deals where rebates required cutting out UPC code labels, separate submissions, etc.

Weird ... my blackstone test of the Pennzoil Platinum is completely different than that.
BS is notorious for having incorrect measurements and often needs re-tested. They are easily the worst out of the big 3-5 labs that test.

OAI (oil analyzers inc.) and Polaris Labs are 2 of the other huge ones that do it. They are both excellent. Wearcheck and Speediagnostix are 2 others. I'm not sure if they still do testing though, would have to check on that.

I wish we had 5-20 in our local. Only 0-something and 5-30. Had to order the 20 online

Well, you'd certainly love the YouTube channel called the car Care, not because he is an expert Toyota mechanic and is especially into Lexus three and four series

And I must agree to disagree with you sir. I would never let my oil go $5,000 mi. You're taking a car that is where several thousand dollars and stretching you frugality down to $5,000 mi for $30?

I use Pennzoil oil but I don't use this. I use their gas to liquid formulated Pennzoil ultra Platinum which costs about 28 per 5 quarts and with my $12 filter I'm up at $40 and I'm going to blow your mind. Here I change my oil every thousand miles for the first 5,000 mi of engine life to remove all the sub 30 micron metal shavings that get thrown into suspension, bypass your bypass valve and pass straight through your filter media.

In other words, don't be cheap by Pennzoil ultra Platinum and change your oil every 2,000 mi .. good Lord..."thecarcarenut" goes on ad infinitum on how Toyota needs to change all their manuals cuz I believe they have $6,000 on some of the light duty intervals and that's just not going to do it. You've got to change your oil filter at least once every 6 months to a year, especially if you're using a cellulosic media without a wire back mesh. For whomever said, I'd like to buy it for cheaper. Come on $4 per quart don't be insane. It's probably the same methane to petroleum backwards gas to liquid construction oil base with a different additive package in it.

People are so cheap on this site. CHEAP... If you bought the Pennzoil ultra Platinum and changed it out at 3,000 mi sure it's $10 more per 5 quarts is $2 more a quart but you get the most advanced protection and iraase motorcycles and I only use Pennzoil ultra Platinum in my vehicles and Bikes.... You know you can use glycerin as well. It may be a bit viscous but I think it's less than $4 a quart.

Shoot a little Dawn dishwashing soap in there and a little molybdenum and zinc boom you got your additive package

Change your oil every 2000 miles? Good lord

The rebate is not as good as cash. Or do they include a postage paid envelope to start? Do you make copies of your submissions? Is there an expiration date on the rebate? I suspect not, but still.
