From customer support:
"When you purchased the device from Boost even the price is not discounted or it was heavily discounted from the normal retail price. We cannot allow the device to exit our network until the discount of the phone is covered by the months of service paid to the network. We need to stay the phone with the network for more the 12 months before we can unlock the device."
Thanks.
how exactly are they gonna determine:
the discount of the phone is covered by the months of service paid to the network

Product description webpage is cringe inducing. I can't imagine using such a phone with so many logos and stamps everywhere.

Anyone else have experience with boost Mobile prepaid unlock?
I was able to unlock a boost Moto edge + 2023 I got for $199 in store with a $5 ebay unlock code. Not sure if any boost stores still have stock but would highly recommend.

- Buy the phone.
- Buy a plan approved for use with the phone (In this case, the only plan is their most expensive $60/mo plan). Other plans may have a lower minimum plan for the phone deal.
- Stay on it for a year.
- They will unlock
So, the effective cost in this case is:
Cost of Phone: $210.00
Cost of 1 yr service: $720.00
Total Cost: $930.00, including phone and a year of service
Is that basically it, or is there a less expensive way to make it through the year until unlock?
when did u buy?
when did u get it unlocked?
what was seller id?
1) Yes it's not unlockable. I used to have a moto edge+ with boost and was able to get it unlocked easily with some unlock code around $1, but this one they told me can't find the unlock code associated with the imei. I guess it might because it was too new (manufactured on 03/21/2024) so I will just wait for a couple months. I am not going to return it because it might cost me more.
2) It's locked only to boost. According to wikipedia, boost uses Dish, AT&T and T-Mobile networks. I've tried at&t and t-mobile sim cards. Doesn't work.
3) On Moto's official website, they said this phone is dual sim -- a physical sim + an esim. However, there is only one imei in the setting and I can't verify the existence of the esim. Is it possible they castrated the esim?
4) They activate your service once they shipped it, so you might have 27 days left when you receive it.
5) Comes with only cable, no charger
6) With all the above, I won't suggest this deal.

It's of plenty of value, just not for this phone. Some Boost Moto phones can be unlocked, I have a bunch. But they can't unlock everything. No idea how they do it, but it works. I've unlocked moto Gs and moto stylus's same week I've bought them and never had a problem. Not sure why it's just those two models, but it is.
they specifically mentioned the phone.
without the context i outlined
the post is meaning less.
will confuse others who may not be aware
