Here's a trick I learned. When you are screwing it back together, rotate backwards first slowly. Once you feel the screw 'drop', then you know you are aligned back in the original threads. Then screw it back in. Works everytime without any extra damage to the threads,

I was thinking of grabbing the 64, add a new drive then hooking it all up to a monitor, keyboard and mouse as a cheap gaming pc for helldivers. Thoughts?

People don't know that SD cards are not meant for constant reading and writing, that is the worst thing to do to. They are not as durable as silicon based SSD.

Beyond the cloud gaming, though, can the SD play actual Xbox games that need to be downloaded?
Ignore the one naysayer; you can, but it'll be annoying. You'll have to install Windows on your Steam Deck to get access to it, as the windows store doesn't support Linux. What people seem to do from my 10 minutes of googling is upgrade to a sizable SSD, then format it so one half of the SSD is for SteamOS, and the other is for Windows. Then, they install Windows on an SD card to boot from whenever they want to play Gamepass games. You can probably also just forgo the SD card install and dual-boot on the same large SSD; I imagine that's probably preferable since the OS will be constantly pulling from the SD card, but there's probably some reason people use the SD card instead.

There are tutorials for it online. If you haven't done anything like this before, it might sound super advanced, but it's ultimately like an annoying afternoon project.

Most people in this section mean "Steam Deck" when they say "SD".

I am referring to people who bought the 64GB SD that install games to their SD cards. Bad idea.

I think they will actually open it up and install a larger SSD instead.

Not necessarily a bad idea as tests show:

I bought the 512GB Monday and it still hasn't shipped. Kind of annoying because I was hoping I'd have it by the weekend.

More like the normal or cheaper versions of each brand like, scandisk, Samsung and PNY… aren't mean to. However those same brands make high endurance ones or "elite" ones that are meant to do exactly that. Continuously read and write at high speeds. The same kind you would put into say a home security camera.

The problem with Gamestop is that finding a 64GB in a wild is... nearly impossible (at least in my region - I hadn't seen it for a single time)
It doesn't have the same type of warranty
it is not refurbished by Valve
That's interesting I've purchased decks from 3 different stores in my area 64gb too
