Refurbished Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum for sale for $199.99. Use code SHOPGREEN to bring the price down to $169.99. Was recently shopping for vacuums and figured I would post this because I think its a good price for this vacuum.
I owned this Dyson unit for just under a year. It was the worst vac I've ever used. The split beater bar design trapped hair constantly and was impossible to totally clear. This eventually caused the beater bar to destroy itself catastrophically while vacuuming and embed black plastic all over the carpet. I immediately loaded it up and returned it to Costco. Purchased a Dyson Ball Animal 3+ and absolutely love it. Skip this model.
Dyson usually has only a six month warranty vs eBay's 2-year & I'm concerned about dysons return policy.

I'm in the market, but reddit seems to abhor anything Dyson and while can appreciate that, I just wonder how much of that is reality and how much is the reddit hive mind for vacuum junkies.
Anyone have any thoughts on this model? 1/4 hardwood, 3/4 carpet home with long and short hair pets.
It's a good vacuum (plenty of suction power), but it's a real pain to maneuver. Got one several years ago and my wife absolutely hates it - it's big, clunky and difficult to turn. Other than that it's great.
Got a V11 a few years ago, and aside from the tiny cannister, it's great. Would highly recommend it. If you get one spend a couple bucks on eBay and get the little trigger attachment that keeps the trigger pulled for you.
Had this unit and hated it. The suction cannot be sufficiently adjusted down for hile pile carpet or small rugs. It was almost impossible to move across our high pile carpet in the bedrooms. Dyson's reply was that "it's not compatible with all carpet types". Because of the ball design, it wouldn't fit under furniture where other vacuums would. The hose extension is too firm (vacuum tends to tip over when using the extension hose without stabilizing the vacuum with one hand) and difficult to access compared to other vacuums we had. We didn't keep ours long enough to comment on the beater bar failure, ours went back to Costco within a month. No wonder Dyson has so many refurbished units that they're trying to unload.
Agree 100%. The rubber baffle design was terrible as it allowed the brush bar to suck in carpet and bind up way too easily. I took it back after having a dc 25 for years. Eventually found a ball animal 3 and it works well.

It's an Allstate Warranty but better than 6 months. I'll roll the dice for this price, to the comments that it's too powerful on carpet, I'll take the suction over a generic that spreads dirt around.
Shark wins, especially if you can get a powered lift-away head so you can vacuum under furniture. Shark is cheaper, also has HEPA, and has comparable suction. Dyson's are very popular, so getting replacement parts and filters are very easy.
