Google AI says: "Yes, lenders can consider immigration status when underwriting loans, and visa holders may be considered more risky than citizens. This is because immigration status can correlate with national origin, which is protected under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA). Lenders can consider immigration status to assess their rights or remedies to recover funds, or if otherwise required to comply with other laws. For example, if a visa expires and the borrower must leave the country, the lender would be unable to recover the balance due on a loan."

I chose to do a 1 pay lease and just pay everything at signing. I also had offers for roughly the same total price with $0 down $254 per month, $1k down $207 per month, and $2k down $161 per month. Admittedly those are slightly better than the $6k upfront but they didn't come with the extra $2k in options which I chose to use on lease end protection and tire/wheel protection

The numbers for NJ are considerably higher. Wonder if going to a dealership and showing them the link might yield better results. Would love feedback from anyone who tries. I'll see about doing so this week
We've been having the same trouble in PA. Dealers' lease offers are in the 400-500 a month range, even if they advertise the lower rate on their website. We tried a bunch of different dealers and tactics, even showing them the lease offers from their own website and they all just shrug and offer no explanation.

I can never duplicate these offers and I live in Denver! Furthermore, why would anyone want to burn their federal & state EV tax credit on a lease? It might make sense to wait two years for these to come off lease and buy them allowing someone else to suffer the depreciation. Right?
In many cases the leases get more rebates than financing offers. So it's a way to get more discount off the total price if you plan to buy at end of lease.

some states charge EV taxes ...that sucks
Driving on state/federal funded roads is a privilege, not a "right". Typically those funds come from a tax on fuel. So.....

Can you use the tax credit on a used car? And Im not sure if this is a car id like to buy used.

There is a used EV credit but max price is 25k and it has a bunch of other restrictions as well (min 2 years old, income cap is half what it is for new credit, and a few other things)

EV cars are 30% heavier than an ICE. Have to pay for the road wear and tear somehow. Imagine a 30% heavier semi.

Badly designed ones are.

In contrast the Tesla model 3 for example is 3,862 to 4,034 lbs

ICE competition are things like the BMW 3 series whose weight range is 3,582 to 4,138 lbs... somewhat lighter to somewhat heavier

Or the Lexus IS350, which is 3,715 to 3,891 lbs... So only a very tiny increase for the EV. depending on trim

This isn't true. I did a one pay lease for less than $4500 for 2 years, 12k miles a year on a 2024 ioniq 5 sel. Also includes two years of free charging (30 mins a day) thru electrify America.

I actually work for a Hyundai dealership. (Top Salesman) and let me tell everyone a little secret. There is no such thing as this car for $229 with only first month payment due. I don't care what they tell you. It has nothing to do with the state you are in.

HyundaiUSA.com is what every single Hyundai dealership in America bases their rebates/incentives/lease specials off of. I promise you Colorado is not doing these leases for $229/month with only $229 down. It's actually impossible. I notice people asking for price quotes on the thread. You won't get one because this deal does not exist. I live in Austin, Texas.

Reach out if you want the hook up.
This isn't true. There are crazy deals on these to be had, but I think the best one at end of last month is done (in Colorado at least)

Interesting article about how there are now 1:15 EV fast-charging stations to gas stations in the US:
https://www.extremetech.com/cars/...s-stations
I would like to mention the obvious, and people should do their due diligence before buying an EV. In Cali an EV might make sense -- but even if you're in another state with a ton of chargers, if you happen to be anywhere where the weather goes harshly from summer to winter/anywhere middle-income, those chargers might not be well-kept. I would drive around in your typical commuting area and do a visual check of the chargers, and I would do research on how your EV handles a charge in the winter.

This is an extremely great deal. I just signed a lease about 3 weeks ago for the same car for $389 per month. I wish I had waited. Is there anything I can do at this stage?

If you don't mind me asking, why one pay lease? Isn't that risky in the event the car is totaled or some such?
I also live in Co, and leases always seemed to get butchered by sales tax. How much, also if you don't mind, was tax and tags? I bet it'll end up being more then the actual lease over 2 years?

Actually, less than $4500 because we qualified for the $400 College Degree rebate. I think we were just over $4300 over two years.

Taxes are about 7.x% for my county. Taxes/Tags will be about 2% of the MSRP. Yes, insurance, taxes and tags are more than the cost of the lease over two years. With free charging through electrify america for two years, and considering we own lifted trucks and high horsepower sports car, it's nice to have a cheap reliable car to drive around for 2 years for low cost.

Little less, actually as we qualified for the College graduate rebate of $400, think we were around $4300 out the door. Colorado - we closed on last day of March, not sure if same extra aggressive rebates still apply. We used Schomp Hyundai, they were pretty good at being no-BS and leading with best deals.
