Hyundai is offering Ioniq 5 SEL AWD 2 year lease for $225 per month and $225 down in Colorado. States without additional EV tax credit will likely be a little higher but you can probably talk them down even more. I got them down to $6k total price for a 2 year lease including all taxes and fees as well as an additional $2k of no charge options/accessories or protection/warranty plans. I also had a quote for a RWD for $4300 all-in.

They really seem to be desperate to get rid of them. I got to the point in negotiating that they literally couldn't lower the price of the car anymore because it made the residual higher than what I would owe on the car which meant Hyundai would've had to pay me to lease the car, which is how I ended up with the extra $2k in options. It also includes 2 free years of charging on the Electrify America network.

The Hyundai website says the offer ends April 30, but I'm guessing they will extend it.

Edit to add copy of final paperwork numbers. Deal was at Schomp Hyundai in Denver but had similar offers from Phil Long Hyundai Chapel Hills in Colorado Springs and McDonald Hyundai in Denver.

Google AI says: "Yes, lenders can consider immigration status when underwriting loans, and visa holders may be considered more risky than citizens. This is because immigration status can correlate with national origin, which is protected under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA). Lenders can consider immigration status to assess their rights or remedies to recover funds, or if otherwise required to comply with other laws. For example, if a visa expires and the borrower must leave the country, the lender would be unable to recover the balance due on a loan."
I chose to do a 1 pay lease and just pay everything at signing. I also had offers for roughly the same total price with $0 down $254 per month, $1k down $207 per month, and $2k down $161 per month. Admittedly those are slightly better than the $6k upfront but they didn't come with the extra $2k in options which I chose to use on lease end protection and tire/wheel protection

That's what I want to know.. i'm even willing to rent a room for a month and get a colorado license.. except i'd rather drop 6 grand towards a bolt ownership than 2 years of this lease.

Don't sleep on the 2 years of Free charging at Electrify America if it's still being offered. I have 4 months left and have rolled the majority of my 18k miles for free.

What about taxes and registration fees

IN Colorado you likely will only be charged sales tax on the "down at signing " portion. The rest if the sales tax is charged with the monthly payment, and adjusts in percentage when moving to a new tax area. Colorado dealers do not include registration costs. You are responsible for that yourself.

All of the dealers listed are reputable dealers that I would be willing to work with.

Have you even been in a "new" Toyota? Their cars are so outdated. The 2024 Tacoma was finally redesigned.

It's a total of 50 cents a gallon in my state between fed and state taxes. What do you do about plug in hybrids getting 60mpg? Seems like the gas tax should go and switch mileage based for everyone. Itll still be a savings for EV... If you take out the tax on gas my Solterra is still averaging the equivilent of 49mpg when gas is $3.10 (tax removed). Thats good for an all wheel drive SUV. If they did that, it seems like they would need to take away some of the power company taxes since they would be double taxing.

In NH they charge an extra $100 registration fee (annually) for BEV and $50 for PHEV to help offset the lost gas tax revenue. This is on top of the yearly excise tax (they don't call it an excise tax like they did in MA but it is). Cost us ~$850/yr for our 2023 Polestar and ~$330/yr for our 2018 XC90.

Both of my cars (Toyota and Kia) meet or exceed the MPG. I've owned 6 other cars (Hondas, Saturn, Ford), all of which met their reported MPG estimates (no more than 10% of estimates).

I can't speak for every manufacturer and every car, I can only speak for the 8 cars I've owned. Consumer Reports has done tests and found most cars are within 2-10% of the estimates (since 2008 -- before then, conventional engine cars were off by 9% on average and 18% for hybrids): https://www.consumerreports.org/c.../index.htm

You're welcome to reject those data if you have other data that counter what Consumer Reports has found.

I dont know whats outdated about new Toyotas. YOU HAVENT stated one thing.

Someone always has to complain about things, but will a Toyota die at 40k or get stolen and left like garbage Hyundai and Kia?

I think you've had a better experience than most. By a longshot. I've had many cars and have never received the estimates "when driving normally." My present car gets very good MPG at 60 mph on cruise when on flat land. Surprisingly good. But city falls into the same slot all my other cars have. My other cars and trucks, were not in the ball park, when driven normally (not trying to optimize mpg). Even motorcycles (I've had a BUNCH!) have been even worse in my experience. Admittingly, I never expected the mpg estimates, but actual EV mpg was lower than I expected. Apparently higher speeds have a big affect on mileage. Your stats on pre 2008 estimates compared to post 2008 could very well explain things in my world. Won't argue with that possibility. nod Sounds like my experience.

Around me the offers end up netting out at about $330-350 a month depending on model. Not bad but not great. Add in some weird Hyundai specific dielectric coolant that needs to be changed at 36 months right at lease end on a 36 month lease for $1000 and hard pass.
Easy fix - do a 24 month lease? They have a 72% residual for 24 months, and with the 10k dealer cash it brings the residual to something like 1k less than the total price

Leased an SEL in Southern CA for ~11k total, no Colorado credit available unfortunately. This was ~5k OTD and 259/mo with all taxes and fees. Could have probably found a better deal if I kept looking, I have heard of some dealerships in CA offering ~7-8k with a one-pay option, but did not have the time to shop around unfortunately. Originally was looking for the Kona, as they are even cheaper, but there were none available in my area or within ~100 miles. OTOH, my local dealership had 10+ Ioniq 5's on the lot.

Did not come with an EVSE or any home charger/outlet installation incentives either. But the car is very nice for that price.

NorCal dealers are in $7700-$8000 range if you can find a reasonable one. If you negotiate hard, $6700-$7000. If you get lucky and find a unicorn $6k

Hyundai's USA website also has this lease offer. Doesn't seem to be limited to Colorado.

The national offers do not include taxes and fees. The Colorado offers in the OP are taxes and fees inclusive
