Que the "why is this a gaming laptop" debates.

I have this laptop. Love it for my needs and casual non AAA titles gaming. I said before, this laptop is a unicorn for those who need a laptop like this - light, compact, 2in1, 13in touchscreen with graphics that isnt a lame Iris which almost all (if not all) 13in 2in1s have. G14 is a better laptop for the $ if you dont care about the 2in1 touchscreen.
Battery life is "ok", sometimes windows search bar disappears when you start typing, sometimes laptop boots into bios for no reason on startup, a usbC bios updated nearly bricked all my usbC ports for some reason (forgot how i undid it). My only gripes. Coming from a HP 13in spectre, this 16:10 screen is great. I dont think i can do another 16:9. I have the ROG port capped off with a 3d printed piece except for the usbC portion of it to get another usbC port on this laptop. Using it with a wacom bamboo ink pen for drawing/graphics.

its basically the same as the ROG ally in terms of gaming performance, so if they call that thing a gaming device, this counts.

its an ROG ally minus the controllers but add the keyboard and a larger screen

ironically i did consider getting a rog ally while i was debating on the x13 as the ally could be a sort of a cheap mini docked pc but decided that if i wanted to ever be mobile that the little screen wasnt worth it.

sure thing, the one. i have is loose so maybe mods are needed to make the tabs thicker so it jams in there better.
i'm using the slightly larger screen legion go as my mobile laptop (with bluetooth keyboard) it works great imo, a bit cramped but i made everything smaller and just sit closer.

i could size up to the 10" GPD WIN MAX2, but the ergonomics of the controller wasn't worth it

Why they are stingy on the hard drive. Anyway this vs ThinkPad X1, which one to choose. (i7, 1TB, 16GB, 400 nits).

This is WAY better graphics performance. The X1 also throttles pretty hard. I bought a X1G9 when iris XE graphics were released thinking thats enough for my basic graphics needs, but unfortunately they throttle pretty hard and it wasnt that much of a difference compared to previous versions of intel.

I love my X1, and wouldnt switch to something unless its MUCH better, same build quality, etc.

If they make an X1 with 7840U ill give that a go. Or possibly a T14s with 7840u.

The G14 is the only other laptop ive considered besides a thinkpad in terms of build quality, weight and feel (the old gen). Im sure the new is even better.

Yeah, the graphic on X1 is the week spot, otherwise it's all good. Too bad I bought X1, but I would consider this one if had choice at the time.

Calling this a gaming laptop is a crime. You 100% can not do gaming on a computer that doesn't have a dedicated GPU. I have tried it many many many times and it never works.
7840U has great performance - enough to play any game today (some at med/low settings).

Like someone else mentioned - if you can call a steam deck a gaming device, then so is this.

"Ive tried many many many times"

What did you not see benchmarks beforehand or something? lol

Werent you debating between the two? That's what your post makes it seem like.

The T14s with 7840u is pretty damn close to an x1. Id like to see a direct comparison on terms of size/weight/build quality.

Wish there were more high quality windows laptops to choose from. Thinkpad is still king for windows devices.

Yes, I still consider this one. If it is a wash I would skip it.

Make a mold using modeling clay or similar and take measurements from that.

This is the performance of a ROG Ally in the footprint of a thin-and light. It's a gaming laptop.

Well unless you tried on something with a 680m or better yeah I can understand, but things are improving.

Is the case / lid of this thing actually textured / ribbed? Or is that appearance just created by a paint job?

I wild highly recommend uninstalling the Asus Armory Crate software and use GHelper instead. Less bloatware and better performance and battery management.
