Interesting to try at this price. Make sure to add two of the single quantity, not the pack of two.

The extra crazy spicy Korean food trend (like Buldak) needs to stop. I'm not hating on spicy foods but some of this stuff is not edible. The prevalence of stomach and colorectal cancers in South Korea should be a forewarning.

Plus colonoscopies and endoscopies in general are not as commonly done as they are in Korea.
Oh yeah? Then is why is the host of Hot Ones still alive?

You try to associate spicy food with gastrointestinal cancer risk in Korea, but you ignore all the other billions of people that eat spicy foods. Did you ever even stop to think that maybe it has to do with a diet high in fermented foods since the other billions of spice eaters don't encounter the same relative risk? Meta-analyses indicate there might be some association between spicy foods and cancer risk, but the evidence is weak at best, and there are other cultures that eat spicy food and don't have the same cancer risk as Koreans. There is even evidence that regular spice eaters are less likely to get certain gastrointestinal cancers. What a truly misleading suggestion you've made.

Buldak isn't even crazy spicy to me, and you literally control how much of the hot oil packet you use. Can you really not be trusted to manage this? You are definitely hating on spicy foods. You fail to understand that your receptors don't work the same as everyone elses, and the perception of spice is dramatically different between individuals.

Spice eaters may have less of certain types of gastrointestinal cancers.

Spice eaters live longer on average:

You can buy big packs of the noodles at an Asian grocer and put whatever sauce you want.

So no one has given a direct answer why the produc is "yuck" [the Teokboki,or the sauce]. Personally, I love extreme spicy. I put 2x buldak / other spicy sauces on most of the meals. And I can eat 2x spicy Buldak Ramen NP. So if the ony issue is spiciness, it's fine.

It's not yuck at all; it's just texturally different than what some people can handle. Asians already know how good glutinous rice and chewy meat like tendon are, but it's too foreign for a lot of people.

If you are an adventurous eater, I'd try it. If you are a picky eater, I'd probably pass. I'd probably rather start with a normal flavor over a super spicy one. You can throw in a slice of cheese and some green onions to dress it up if desired.

Yes this is very spicy for most people but no one is forcing you to use the entire sauce packet. You can use just half or 1/4 if you want.

And yes you can buy korean or chinese rice cake for cheaper at asian markets. Around $4 for a 2 lb bag. Those aren't precooked but it only takes about 10 minutes to fully cook.

shifting from your diet suddenly to very spicy foods and vice versa can also cause issues such as stomach ulcers. my Malaysian friend used to always eat spicy growing up but after changing diet for a couple years outside the country something triggered and now any spicy food even slight spice causes ulcers.

That seems very odd for someone to all of a sudden start consuming spicy; normally people wouldn't be able to tolerate heat without prior training or experience

My wife and I went to a remote village in Northern Thailand, had some time to kill and we were hungry, so we asked the hostel where my wife and I could get lunch. They gave us a local spot. We almost died that day the food was so spicy. Of course we couldn't read the menu and the waitstaff did not speak English so we just randomly pointed to stuff on the menu. Everyone told us not to drink the tap water so we must have ordered 20 bottles of water between the two of us.

Water makes spice worse for cause capsaicin binds to lipids so you dont do much beyond the chilling sensation of water to cool it off with spicy foods; i would love to visit Thailand to try all their cuisine but i know that must of been difficult to tolerate if you didnt know what you were getting yourself into lol

Some attribute the the cancers to the high use of antibiotics use when these adults were children.
