Nope. QD OLEDs (Samsung) are different from OLED (LG) panels. OLEDs have a white sub pixel layer where as QD OLEDs don't. QD OLEDs typically have better panel uniformity from my experience. LG OLEDs have an advantage when it comes to size because they can produce panel sizes up to 97" where as QD OLEDs are currently capped at 77". Lastly color brightness and vibrancy is much better on QD OLED as well.
It depends on use case. If you absolutely need Dolby Vision then I'd recommend you go with LG or Sony. The equivalent Sony QD OLED is way more expensive. The only LG OLED than can compete with QD OLED is the G series that's equipped with MLA Technology.
I'd go with the QD OLED unless you absolutely hate Samsung or you need Dolby Vision. Stay away from the S90C 83" because it doesn't use a QD OLED panel.
IMO... the 5 yr Costco Warranty is better than the 2 yr BB warranty. The 5 yr Costco warranty coverage is as follows: Yr 1 - Manufacturer, Yr 2 - Costco, Yrs 3-5 - Allstate. My 65" C1 (purchased @ Costco) developed burn-in during year 2 of the warranty, and I received a full refund through Costco Concierge. That's as good as the BB 2 yr warranty that covers burn-in, and then there's 3 more years of coverage through Allstate/Costco (though that 3 yrs does not cover burn-in).

Question if you wouldn't mind - why would one "need" Dolby vision? Interested in learning more.

More streaming services support Dolby Vision like Netflix, HBO Max, and Paramount+. There's also a Dolby Vision game mode for Xbox Series consoles. I personally wouldn't let the omission of Dolby Vision deter me from buying a TV.
How hard is it to cancel ? I am hoping a G3 comes down so would order this on 28th and set delivery for last possible date thus giving me about 3 weeks worth of time
How's everyone's TV so far? I'm still debating on the deal. I (somehow) convinced my gf that we need it so all I gotta do is swallow the bullet and drop $2000 lol

Mine delivered today, this is my second s90c 77, I also got the last deal.
The factory date is newer, the panel uniformity seems to be up. A little more black crush, everything else is pretty much the same. I will break it in before doing calibrations.
I wholeheartedly agree when you're comparing 2023 models. I personally think that's why Samsung completely separated the S90D and S95D. The differences between the S90C and S95C are minimal so it didn't make sense for most people to pay more money.
The biggest difference with the G4 is that the 83" variant finally has MLA Technology. I wanted that panel, but I hardly see it dropping below $3000. I recently saw the G4 83" for $3699 through BH Photo Video, but it lacks MLA and the colors were muted in Game Mode. I believe that was an all time low as well. I eventually want to get an 83" OLED so I'll be on the lookout for one. I'm looking forward to not having blackouts when I game on my PC. PS5, XSX, and my Denon Receiver are just fine. It's those inconsistent blackouts with the S95C that make it hard to recommend.
If you don't care about warranty, there is no difference between 90c and 95c, you can boost the 90c panel higher than the 95c from the service menu.
Forget MLA, the QD-oled does not need MLA because it doesn't have a polarizer which causes light loss. LG only needs it because their stack is worse.
95d has better tonemapping capability. Other than that 90d is pretty similar to 90c but slightly bright.

Seems like a deal breaker, unless I'm missing something

Yes dynamic HDR(Dolby Vision/HDR10+) is better than static HDR(HDR10) technology wise(on paper).
Now in practicality sense(visually) the difference can vary widely and does not mean HDR10 is bad, far from it.
It's only a deal breaker if you choose it to be.
I agree with techmehow, that one factor shouldn't deter you, this is a very good display otherwise.
Does that come with the $150 shop card still?

No, you only get the shop card if you order online.
Is that the one that is 1800? I need to know which in is better. Costco is more expensive but after the perks and warranty it seems better.
Yes. Both the same tv except Costco has more wattage in speaker. Also the stand comes with this cover that looks better but mine is on wall anyway.
