Nope. QD OLEDs (Samsung) are different from OLED (LG) panels. OLEDs have a white sub pixel layer where as QD OLEDs don't. QD OLEDs typically have better panel uniformity from my experience. LG OLEDs have an advantage when it comes to size because they can produce panel sizes up to 97" where as QD OLEDs are currently capped at 77". Lastly color brightness and vibrancy is much better on QD OLED as well.
It depends on use case. If you absolutely need Dolby Vision then I'd recommend you go with LG or Sony. The equivalent Sony QD OLED is way more expensive. The only LG OLED than can compete with QD OLED is the G series that's equipped with MLA Technology.

I'd go with the QD OLED unless you absolutely hate Samsung or you need Dolby Vision. Stay away from the S90C 83" because it doesn't use a QD OLED panel.
IMO... the 5 yr Costco Warranty is better than the 2 yr BB warranty. The 5 yr Costco warranty coverage is as follows: Yr 1 - Manufacturer, Yr 2 - Costco, Yrs 3-5 - Allstate. My 65" C1 (purchased @ Costco) developed burn-in during year 2 of the warranty, and I received a full refund through Costco Concierge. That's as good as the BB 2 yr warranty that covers burn-in, and then there's 3 more years of coverage through Allstate/Costco (though that 3 yrs does not cover burn-in).

you can boost the 90c panel higher than the 95c from the service menu.

.
I am betting that is a great way to void your warranty.

Interesting... Is burn in mainly from like playing games or say watching news with static logos for long periods of time?
I've got 3 LG OLEDs starting with a 65" 3D C16 (2016 model) and none have burn in. You have to be a knuckle dragging moron to screw these TVs up. Now, the older TVs lag pretty bad navigating apps, especially junk Pluto app, but the panels are 100%.

Mine delivered today, this is my second s90c 77, I also got the last deal.

The factory date is newer, the panel uniformity seems to be up. A little more black crush, everything else is pretty much the same. I will break it in before doing calibrations. Big Grin
Just got mine today, what calibrations will you be performing?

Buy from Costco. The process of trying to get warranty help from Samsung is a pain. For the piece of mind and $200 more on the front end, remember you're getting $150 back to spend at Costco with Gift Card so, equaling out to $50 extra for the 5 years of warranty and costco service it's a no brainer for me.

If you don't care about warranty, there is no difference between 90c and 95c, you can boost the 90c panel higher than the 95c from the service menu.

Forget MLA, the QD-oled does not need MLA because it doesn't have a polarizer which causes light loss. LG only needs it because their stack is worse.

95d has better tonemapping capability. Other than that 90d is pretty similar to 90c but slightly bright.
I was speaking in terms of the average consumer. I'm not someone who would willingly go into the service menu, and change values. I like to keep it stock.

I think one could argue that they enjoy the One Connect Box due to it's ease of use. I'm not a fan of it. There's too many issues with it. When everything clicks, it's phenomenal.

I wanted an 83" OLED, and QD OLEDs aren't available in that size...yet. The G4 83" is the best panel on the market, but it is expensive. My LG C1 77" is still fantastic, but it wouldn't make sense for me to jump to a 77" QD OLED. I was able to get the S90C 83" for <$2400 so I' won't be upgrading anytime soon. I also have the S95B 65" and S95C 65" so I'm familiar with the picture quality benefits of QD OLED. If there was an 83" QD OLED, I'd wait on a deal for that.

Lastly, the S95D has improvements across the board, but I simply refuse to buy an OLED with a matte anti-reflective coating. I previously had the A80J 65", and I couldn't stand the semi glossy panel. It was a warranty swap for my defective A8H 65" so I could immediately see the differences between the panels. I won't be buying any OLEDs from here on out unless 83" QD OLEDs arrive on the scene, or the 97" OLEDs drop to an affordable price point.

Sorry for the stupid question. Is this the same as S90C? S90CD is just a special sku for Costco? Thanks!

Edit: Yes, it is the costco variant.

The S90CD offers the same features, picture quality, and processing capabilities but has more powerful speakers (60W vs. 40W on the S90C) and a longer warranty.

I usually rotate them around the house. I sold off my A80J 65" earlier in the year because it was sitting in it's box after I received the S95C 65" from Samsung. Other than that I still have my LG C1 77" and S95B 65".

As a reminder for everyone receiving these orders, do not allow the delivery service to leave until all contents inside the box have been inspected.

My delivery guys got out ASAP and now I'm stuck with a damaged unit (cracked screen to boot). Costco won't assist as an exchange if you decide to return in store or even help contact the delivery team who just left even if it was minutes ago. Net, return/rebuy is your only option if you don't want to hold on to it until redelivery.

To get $200 edu discount from Samsung do I just need to borrow someone's edu email that has one? Asking because I have a friend who's a student

That was a joke. Haven't you seen "Back to the Future"? Although I don't believe "Calvin" was in the original movie quote.
