TravelPro is known to be a pretty good brand. you should review the dimensions just to be sure bc the carry on is slightly bigger than the standard domestic size but I've never had a problem with mine flying on the major airlines.

you are not buying from Costco but the brand directly with a special discount, so the normal Costco return policy does not apply and you would not be getting the 2% benefit through the executive membership or citi card .
I like mines. it's definitely not as flimsy as the Samsonite and Delsey sets I saw in Costco, even though they're also made of Polycarb. My only concern when I bought it was the carry on size. Most airlines will says their carry on limits are 22x14x9, and this one is 23x14.5x9.5, but I've taken it on the major airlines (America, Delta, Southwest and Alaska), and haven't had any problems putting it in the overhead bin.

If you primarily travel internationally, this will most likely be too big for most airlines.

Really tired of these plastic clamshell suitcases. Fabric is very durable and easily expands plus allows for easy packing (as opposed to packing 2 sides and sandwiching close. That being said, if you like hard plastic suitcases, travelpro is a great brand and it being from Costco is a no brainer
Yeah but what about rain?

It's not sold by Costco. You are subject to Travelpro's 100 day return policy.

TravelPro is seriously legit! It's very common to see flight crews carrying TravelPro soft side bags. I have hard side bags (not this model) and they are definitely standing the test of time.

Make sure you read their warranty terms and conditions very carefully for this Roundtrip product series (https://travelpro.com/pages/trave...E-warranty).

Luggage companies, as good as some are, still require you to personally bring damaged luggage to a limited number of repair facilities across the country, or have it shipped at your own expense to them to asses whether the damage is "covered" before they possibly replace or repair and ship it back to you.

If you live far from a repair center, it's expensive to ship such a large item to them to do that assessment, and even then, they might reject your claim and have you pay for them to ship it back to you unrepaired.

TravelPro's warranty for the Roundtrip product line DOES include ONE YEAR of "worry-free" damage claims (which they pay for shipping of the suitcase to/from their repair centers, and covers damages caused by mishandling of an airline) BUT ONLY if you register for their extended warranty within 120 days of purchase. Again, this extended warranty is ONLY valid for ONE YEAR. After that, airline-caused damages are NOT covered, AND you have to get the suitcase to them at your own expense to assess for warranty applicability/deniability for repairs at their discretion.

Since this deal is through TravelPro and not sold directly by Costco (as some previous members mentioned already), Costco's near-unlimited return policy does NOT apply to this deal, so you have to deal everything through TravelPro.

I personally would rather buy a suitcase through Costco direct, so that if/when it does break, I can take it back to ANY Costco and get it exchanged or refunded, virtually with no time limitation since it's considered a durable good.

Even if you don't buy from Costco, you can buy second-rate suitcases at discount retail stores like Ross for the same price it would be to ship a TravelPro suitcase to and from their repair centers. For the price of a TravelPro, you could buy 2 - 3 sets from Ross.

I've been bitten before by these so-called "lifetime warranties" from luggage companies, and they are far more hollow than they would have you believe, chocked full of asterisks and fine print limitations.

While this looks nice, I got the $99 Delsey one from Costco after weighing it, very light! It traveled from Us to a few Eu countries then to a few Asian countries then back to Us. Still alive and in 1 piece, just some minor scratches. Might want to check them out, they are available in store.

This. If you want to know what luggage to buy, check what the people that travel for a living own and use.

I have various luggage brands but needed a workhorse "week" bag for business travel - the last thing you want to battle in an airport is luggage that doesn't move, or breaks. That's when I researched and invested in a Travelpro. It's expensive, yes, but for good reason. You can get cheap luggage that looks nice but breaks on you, or you can spend more $$ and get something that will last. That midsize roller I got from amazon was near $200 IIRC at the time, but is still going strong years later. It's a bit scuffed but that's from baggage handling when I can't carry on.

I can't speak for their hardsided line (I'm not a real believer in hardsided luggage myself), but with the Costco warranty (which is basically forever), this deal is a no brainer if you want to try it out.

Also the quad wheel fad is a negative. They are nice for rolling while going through the security line. But the spinner wheels are the weak point and will break eventually. They also take up about 3" of bag space meaning for the same outer dimensions you get less packing space. The dual rollerblade style roller wheels take up almost no space as the only need to protrude a tiny bit at the two bottom corners, and are nearly impossible to break.

Great info. I heard this is a reputable and reliable brand, but I still prefer to buy them from Costco in case they break. My concern is how long those wheels will last.

People don't factor in the cost of wheels which are usually the first failure.

Agree about the loss of space, but I would still prefer having quad wheels. Makes them so much convenient to drag along in the airport or through the aisle of the plane especially for my kids and wife.

Anyone have the carry-on in this deal? Just wondering if it fits in the overhead bins of most larger planes given that it is a bit larger than the usual sizes.

Purchased it 2 days before the price dropped. Called CS to see if they could just adjust the price but they insisted on returning the delivered box and placing another order Frown

I got the set last fall and flew on Alaska, American, Delta and Southwest. I was able to fit it in the overhead bin without any issues.

I haven't tried seeing if it fit while expanded. Both bags can expand an extra 2 inches, I usually just gate check it instead of trying to squeeze it in the overhead compartment.

Travelpro is great!

There are different levels of quality, you have to research what you want.

Spinner wheels are great, VERY smooth, no breakage issues.
