According to Lenovo's website, this model number corresponds to the 300 nit IPS panel 45% NTSC. If this is accurate, this is a pretty great deal if you're only doing productivity work. IPS, backlit KB, touchscreen, 11hr battery life, 15W 8-core 👍

Unfortunately, Soldered LPDDR5 means it's NOT upgradable.

I don't see where anyone has been able to confirm it's a TN panel. Even if it is, this is a $250 budget laptop... they had to make some cuts. This would still be a great deal, even with a TN panel.

This does not have 8 cores, just 4 cores with 8 threads. It's more like a Ryzen 3 from 2020; all the Ryzen 5 mobile chips from 2020 on have had 6 cores 12 threads. Performance is slightly lower than a Core i3 from 3 years ago:

He soldered ram is not upgradable but some laptops have extra sodimm slot to add with the soldered ram.

Unfortunately I am not sure if this model has one or not. Other slim ideapad 3 series do. So maybe this does too?

soldered LPDDR (always non-upgradable) VS soldered DDR (sometimes upgradable, to be paired with SODIMM)

LP means Low-Power, which has lower supply voltage. Therefore, cannot be used with standard voltage DDR
This laptop comes with LPDDR5!

Not much difference in cpu "age." The 7520U is zen2, which is 4 years old. But then again, the 8650U is basically Skylake from nearly 10 years ago.

I personally wouldn't buy any xx2x CPU - things improved a good deal with zen3 and zen4. Look for xx3x or xx4x model numbers. With this machine you're just getting a new computer with 2020-spec hardware. 8GB (soldered) RAM was also limiting in 2020, and even more terrible today. It's weird because I've been running the same 64GB of RAM since 2017, and while it was overkill, back then I was seeing 20-30GB memory usage with just basic productivity apps and web browsers. 16GB today should be baseline, and 32GB as the mid-range step up.
