I have been using this plan for 3+ years.

A few things to know.
1. the plan only lasts 360 days, not a year.
2. renew price $30 does not include tax and fee. the tax and fee is about $1 or $2 for me.
3. If you forget to renew it when time is up, you have about 60 days to keep your number. There is an reactive fee of $1 if you forgot to renew the plan. This $1 is not a tax, not a yearly fee. It costs you $1 if you totally forget to renew the plan after 30 days.
You may want to link a credit card on RedPocket account so you get auto renew.

When I know I will have friends / family fly into US, I mail this SIM card out. I tell them to put this SIM card into their unlocked phone and call me when their flight lands at an airport. It saves $$ and make everything simple.

I have this plan and use it to track my two young kids, put it in their backpack and use an old unlocked phone. Using life360 app can tell where they are at all times

I plan to connect with Customer Service once I get my SIM card and ask them if I can directly activate the plan with an eSIM or first activate using the physical SIM and then transfer to eSIM.

Been using Google Voice and oBI device for my home phone. The Obi device appears to have issues now and is not replaceable. Any reasons to believe this deal would not be satisfactory to port the home number to?

I don't remember seeing any option to select eSIM at checkout when I ordered thru eBay. Frown Maybe it works only on plans ordered directly from the Red Pocket website.

Have you considered using Google Voice on your cell phone instead of spending money on porting and signing up for a cell phone plan? Just install the Google Voice app on the phone, set the notifications for incoming calls and text and you can use it for free anywhere as long as you have WiFi or mobile data.

Of course, this assumes that the people in the house always have a cell phone on them. I plan to do the same when my OBi device stops working.

I do have the phone app but I prefer to have the number ring on the home handsets. Was planning on using a spare cell phone to connect to the unit via bluetooth.
