I plan to connect with Customer Service once I get my SIM card and ask them if I can directly activate the plan with an eSIM or first activate using the physical SIM and then transfer to eSIM.
I got my SIM card today and activated it via chat since the website kept giving errors. After activation, there is an option under the Summary page to purchase an eSIM for $2. I purchased the eSIM but get web scripting errors on the page when trying to switch to it from the physical SIM. Will try again after a couple of days.

I read the fineprint multiple times carefully, at the bottom of this page:
https://www.redpocket.com/plans/annual
It says $30/yr plan is GSMT only and on this page:
https://www.redpocket.com/esim
It says esim connects to GSMA network.
I guess there is going to be some problems?

I don't remember seeing any option to select eSIM at checkout when I ordered thru eBay. Maybe it works only on plans ordered directly from the Red Pocket website.
$30/yr plan is only available on ebay.
I still blame Apple for going all esim in US it is very bothering…

I remember reading it too but when I ordered the eSIM, it is listed as "Red Pocket GSMT Universal High Speed eSIM GSMT". I will update this forum once (if?) I get the eSIM installed and working.

All these questions about Apple Watch.. scary to see ppl buying stuff they don't even know how to use. I mean why buy the cellular version without research? Big Grin

hellomobile deal is unlimited talk/text if plan to use it monthly $5 tax included
Does it work overseas? RP does even without WiFI calling turned on.

I have this plan and use it to track my two young kids, put it in their backpack and use an old unlocked phone. Using life360 app can tell where they are at all times
I'd say you track where their bags are. Wink

Does all texts come through with Google Voice like the ones from id.me ?
No, even some banks recognize GV as voip and texts never come. But RedPocket is a valid cellular carrier, texts work from all sources.

I'm a little rusty at this, getting old too. Needed a backup phone for my Google number. It's been messed up with my obitalk that I quit using. Plenty of good phones here to choose from.

Been using Google Voice and oBI device for my home phone. The Obi device appears to have issues now and is not replaceable. Any reasons to believe this deal would not be satisfactory to port the home number to?
I gave up on Obi months ago and need to sort things out between GV and Obitalk, missing incoming calls

I chatted with customer service today and they took my IMEI number, order number and phone number and were able to send me an eSIM QR code. Installed it on my phone and it works fine. It is indeed a GSMT eSIM.

Customer service were pretty helpful and knowledgeable and set my new line and eSIM up for me since the Red Pocket web page kept spewing out errors. Impressed with them so far.

The only thing left is that it shows the date for the next payment as 30 days from now instead of 360 days from now. I mentioned that too and they said they have updated the system and the web page reporting should be corrected in a couple of days.

Does this plan work when traveling overseas without a data connection? If so, is there a list of countries where it would work for calls and texts?

I have this for my kids and for the most part it works well, BUT they are not able to receive photos/images But maybe more importantly they can't see group texts at all. So texts from coaches etc...they can't receive....anyone know if there's anything I can do to fix that ?
I am on this plan on a second phone for emergencies and I can send and receive group messages and mms/pictures (I just tested both to/from 3 different phones). My plan expires next month in June & I will renew it.

As someone else said check your APN settings from the redpocket site. You can also try to reset to default APN settings. I have different APN settings than what is listed on the redpocket site, I don't know why, but the phone works. Its an older android phone running android version 9. My settings are below. Hope they help.

Yes. I purchased for watch.
So how does that work? Forgive my ignorance but wouldn't it be a separate number for watch vs your phone?

What if I don't use all the minutes/data in one year? I'm currently paying $9 a month for US Mobile just to park my old phone number for those "just in case" moments where I have to verify identity on a website I forgot to change my number on. 🙃
Port it to google voice for $20 one-time fee.

I've used GV for my business for years. Most bank texts do not come through, but it depends on the site / business. YMMV. There have been many sites that will not allow you to use the number for 2FA/verification because it's VOIP.

I have not specifically tried ID.me.
