Dang! Just did some research on launch monitors. The price is nice, but I keep reading the MLM 2 Pro is best for the under $1k category. Anyone care to comment or know how to get a discount on one of those?
Rapsodo MLM 2 is definitely more accurate with the RPT ball. Compared it directly with my GC3 and the numbers are very comparable. However, my friend who owns the MLM 2, says he suffers from random connection issues when trying to use it as a simulator. YMMV.

I think you need a subscription to access a lot of the data. I hate that type of thing.

Yeah, I've read the same, but it sounds like the latest firmware updates may have fixed a lot of the earlier issues. I want to buy from a seller who I know will take returns easily, in my case I'm thinking Scheels. Sounds like you can get templates to make your own balls that track on the device too.

Also MLM2 requires a lot more space than a gc3/BLP. I have a GC3 in a small garage and love it. Obviously different price points, but I would for sure go with the MLM2 or Bushnell launch pro over this. If you spend the time to build out a dedicated space for this, you are just going to wish you spent more on one of those devices.

all the useful features like spin axis or access to 3rd party apps like GSpro is locked behind a $200 a year paywall.

FYI, bought this black friday and ended up returning. The numbers were way off. I can hit a driver 175-225 regularly on the golf course but could rarely get over 100 on the r10. Talked to chat and they thought it might have been bc it was in my unfinished basement with my furnace it could be causing it. They wanted me to make sure the furnace wasn't on when playing, then cover all the ducting with blankets and any other metal that could be affecting the numbers. I had all other settings correct. Never took it to the range.

Playing was actually pretty fun and the trajectory seemed on point. I even bought the expensive balls. Ultimately getting 75 yards on a drive you know you crushed was frustrating. Irons seemed more accurate but still short.

Tried this and the MLM 2 Pro. Picked MLM as the end. This one has a hard time picking up rubber balls and not accurate at all

2 years ago, I bought the Garmin R10 from the PGA tour superstore and returned it a week later due to numbers that were off (sometimes by quite a bit) when compared to the local pro shops GCQuad. I swapped it for the original Rapsodo MLM which I still use to this day. Its a lot more accurate and the results were surprisingly consistent and close to the Quad. It only gets slightly inaccurate with driver (sometimes) but that is also the case between a Quad and a Trackman. With the MLM, I don't get spin but that's fine as it allows me to video record all my shots and shot shapes while providing numbers like launch angle, ball speed, trajectory, club speed and carry distances) during a full round of 18. Plus its portable and has shot tracer built in to the video recording. Plopping it behind your tee shot takes less than 30 secs. You just need an apple device.

If you want to stay below $1000 and need spin numbers, go with the MLM 2 (with RPT ball). Depending on the firmware updates, connectivity can be an issue but its the most accurate device under $1000 and while providing accurate spin. If you don't need spin then pay ~$300 and go with the original MLM as its is a no brainer.

Over $1000, I would look at getting the Mevo Plus (although setup can be a bit finicky) or a GC3/Launch Pro. Both can be as accurate as the Trackman/Quad albeit, the Mevo plus needs to be set up correctly to get accurate numbers so using it on course isn't the greatest. Using the RCT ball is highly recommended for doppler monitors to get accurate spin numbers unless you're going for a $40K trackman.

None of this is cheap and the more expensive the device, the more you're gonna pay in subscriptions etc.

You can definitely draw on your own dots as my friend does this to save some $. (He bought a 3D template off of ebay) If you want it for training, its a great device and will suffice for pretty much any purpose unless you're a pro or going pro and need all the club metrics like path, face angle, etc.

It can suffer a bit on short shots like chips (it sometimes doesn't read them) and definitely not recommended for putting but for shots 30/40yds+ out, its the best you can get for under $1000 with good spin.

I've had this thing since the beginning and never able to get good accurate results out of it hitting into a net.

When I go out on the course my average distance with some clubs is 50 yards or more great than the R10 says I've ever hit that club while using it.

Yeah I experienced the same issue which is why I returned my unit. If it was consistently 5-10yards short or long, i could live with it but having a shot read 20-30yards long on one shot and 10yds short on the next was when I said nope.
