you would want motion only so you can go directly to what you want to view. a 24/7 recording would be labor-intensive to find what you're looking for
i mount it on a tree and still able to keep 100% charge and 50% in the winter

this is a good camera for low traffic area like a driveway or backyard, it will struggle with a lot of people/motion. solar power will add maybe 5% battery per day which is good but in my area, winter time means no sun for like 4 months so it starts to drain slowly.
