False. Starting in the 19th century, after innovations in plant nutrition, an agricultural industry developed around synthetically created fertilizers. This transition was important in transforming the global food system, allowing for larger-scale industrial agriculture with large crop yields.

It's actually you who is trying to get the plant benefits through the animal delivery system. It's just not effective, especially longevity-wise. Unfortunately the animals get the worst, pesticide-laden plants, so you do too... Not to mention seafood's microplastics and land animals' injections\hormones.

Plant-based diets are so unequivocally proven to extend life expectancy without comparison to any current fad, which anyone with the ability to do the minimum amount of research can see.

Beyond dying on a weird soapbox because you probably tied eating habits into something political, what you're saying isnt actual science.

Decomposing animals and plants become the atomic particles from which they are made from. There's no such thing as fish carbon or beef carbon. If such a logic were true, you'd be "eating" the dead body of a human because it was buried in the same grass that your dinner just ate.

Soooo good. Hard to find at full price in stores which helps this deal. Reeses posted about these on their Facebook and 1000000 idiots didn't know that cows milk is how they make milk chocolate.

Uhhh micro plastics aren't limited to seafood. And actually those synthetic fertilizers contain a lot of micro plastics. Also what you say isn't true. Just being vegan or vegetarian isn't healthy by itself. You can be an obese slob eating Oreos, French fries and corn chips all day, or any other number of high sugar or ultra processed foods that still fall into that vegan category.
Good work detective… shit food, still shit when you're a vegan.

In other news… alcohol still bad when you're a vegan.

How can you tell if someone is vegan?

Don't worry they'll tell you

Unequivocally and well known fact? You're acting like this is as well know as the sky being blue. What studies are you referring to? Observational BS like Bluezones? Just curious.
Yes, you're right again. I meant well known to those who pay attention to credible health research that looks at hard data points (longevity, all-cause mortality) over decades instead of short-term affects over 5-10 years. You owe it to yourself to be open minded and do a little reading. A really good topic that is getting more recent coverage is caring for your microbiome. Check that out if you get the chance too.

Anyway, do a search on NIH database for plant based diet or choose a few results from here if you're genuinely curious:

I didn't say "just being vegan or vegetarian is healthy by itself." I said "plant-based diets are proven to extend life expectancy." It's a well known fact. This actually excludes vegetarians bc they aren't plant-based.

What you said is true that I did mean a whole foods plant based (WFPB) diet. Not a junk food & restaurant diet, which is unhealthy no matter what.
You're right WFPB is a better lifestyle choice. But this "diet" also isn't the same as being a vegan or vegetarian and can include animal products even more so than a vegetarian. It just minimizes that percentage. You COULD cut out animal based products entirely, but that's not really the core goal of this.

I'm no vegan, but I am lactose intolerant and I used to love the originals, but since they have milk in them, I had to stop eating them. These are not quite as good as the originals, but they are amazing considering how limited my options are.

Agree. I think it is super tough at first, but over the long run, I think the recurring health benefits in a lifetime will be worth it.

Markus Rothkranz (videos [youtube.com]) and Brooke Goldner (videos [youtube.com]) really help make the journey easier. Smilie
But doesn't make the taste any better.

In his defense, the whole conversation started with some weird person trashing veganism, which had very little to do with the price (or quality) of oatmilk Reeses.

I've enjoyed this point/counterpoint discussion on vegans/vegetarians/plant lives mattering, etc.
Well, half of it at least. The other half was like listening to Debbie Downer. Depressing.

I'm more curious to find a vegan nut butter cup replacement that doesn't have peanuts. I'm allergic to peanuts and I'm pretty new to this plant-based thing.
