Get the 77. It's not too big, in fact it's not big enough. It's never big enough.
She said yes!
Warranty doesn't matter? Yeah, ok. I had two TVs replaced with a SquareTrade warranty in the last 9 years.

They had 65" in store, 77" available online with the same $150 discount.

In store price is 1349, so you don't get the GC.

I was going to get a c3 but ended up getting this.

If you have the room for it, the increased size is always better. It's also more cost effective in this case. For the 65" @ $1500 you're paying ~$0.80 per sq. inch of screen area. For the 77" @ $2000 you're paying ~$0.76 per sq. inch of screen area. For the $500 upgrade you're getting ~40% more screen area @ ~$0.65 per each sq. inch of the increased screen area.
It is more complex than that. In reality the viewing perception depends more on the angle of view than surface area.

Are Samsung OLEDs more prone to this issue than Sony or LG?
QD OLEDs are comparatively more prone to it and is in it's early generations. Last year's samsung models were often reported for burn ins on reddit pages. It felt like Samsung had not perhaps put in the right countermeasures.

Sony QDOLEDs were not plagued with burn ins with the same tech. Not saying they did not exist but did not see any reported.

LG WOLEDs are a more mature tech and have several things put in that avoid this phenomenon so they are not prone to burn in. It has come a long way from the days from B6 burn in reports. Every generation got better to a point where it is a non issue now.

I do not think so. I am calculating less than 30% surface area difference and a price advantage for the 65"

Depends on which way you calculate it.... the 65 does have 70% of the screen size of a 77, but it's a 40% jump in size when you move up from a 65 to a 77...

It's 40% larger when comparing the 65 to the 77 (+750 sq inches on a 1800 sq in tv)

It's 30% smaller when going the other way (-750sq in on a 2500 sq in tv)

Kinda like if I had $50.... $100 is a 200% increase, but $50 is 50% of $100.

Are racing games like Gran Turismo 7 okay to play for hours on OLED? With the HUD and other stationary data. Or fine as long as you watch TV in between and don't play for like 8 hours straight?
You should play GT7 exclusively on the PSVR2 anyways .... ouch these are OLED panels also, damn !

To be fair
They were abusing those Tv's and that would not represent the real world for the majority of people..unless of course you ran logos 24 hours a day
I know some people who leave CNN on all day.

I'd rather stare at a logo -- or a wall.

I tried both C3 and S90C, S90C color is a lot more vibrant despite not having Dolby Vision. The TV OS response speed is shit on Samsung but fixable with an external device.

i bought direct from samsung and of note if you want a good sound system the 990c bundles down to $600ish when you get both in one order.

it's not as good as G3 obviously, but it's comparable to C3 and it doesn't pop or crack like my G3.

I like this tv

How widespread is this popping and cracking? I just got my G3 delivered today. 😬

No problem at all. That's always a concern in my family room and the 77" had been great. I went with the s89c.

If you have edu account with samsung, you can get it from samsung.com for total around ~1300 otd with free installation service,
costco extended warranty does not really matter a lot honestly. these tv will definitely outlast 5 years.

Agreed. I spent $1,290 out the door and it included a courtesy 10% off, free 2 year Samsung warranty, free TV mounting service, and an additional 10% student discount. The rep also offered $100 trade in credit but I didn't have a Samsung TV to trade in.

This one actually compares better with the g3 since it's brighter than the c3
