Service can be activated online at https://metrobyt-mobile.com/resources/activate [metrobyt-mobile.com] as soon as the tablet ships. You'll need your order number, last name, and billing zip code.
To setup the tablet without inserting a SIM card, power on the tablet and wait for the initial "Welcome!" screen to appear. Then press the volume down button for a second, and a "NoSimLock is unlocked!!!" message appears. You can then tap the Start button and continue with setup without a SIM card. (However, if you later insert a SIM card into the tablet, it will initiate a factory reset and you will need to set up the tablet again.)

Steps I took.
1. Signed up for a google voice number using a junk email.
2. Set up a voicemail PIN and then paid $3 to unlock the number. Follow these instructions: https://slickdeals.net/f/17325810-metro-by-t-mobile-port-in-new-number-offers-select-smartphone-30-days-service-from-40-free-shipping?p=1695
3. Signed up for the $30 plan using an eSIM. https://slickdeals.net/f/17143504-esim-bring-your-number-online-25-metro-by-t-mobile-single-line-phone-plan-unlimited-5g-data
4. After paying for $30 plan, I wasn't able to add the tablet initially. It showed an error saying call in (I didn't). I logged into the account with another browser and then was able to buy the tablet for $20. I'm not able to buy more than 1, the second attempt it errors with "Sorry, you are not eligible to add a new line".
Update: Metro won't allow you to add a second tablet to your shopping cart if the first one is already on order but not activated yet. You'll see a message on the tablet product page saying "Sorry, you are not eligible to add a new line." and the "Add to Cart" button is greyed out. You can activate the first order once you get the shipping notification email (even before you get it). This will allow you to add another tablet to your shopping cart. Use this link and enter your order # to activate the first tablet after it ships. https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/r...s/activate This doesn't necessarily mean you'll be able to successfully place the order (see update 2 below), but will allow you to add it to the shopping cart and attempt the order.
Update 2: I see a lot of people reporting that after they add the tablet to the shopping cart and try to place the order, they get message to call into customer service and are unable to complete the order. I saw this post mention the likely causes: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=
Suggestions based on what worked for me.
1. Try incognito mode or private browsing mode on your browser.
2. Disable any browser ad blockers or whole network blockers such as pi-hole. Also try using a VPN such as Windscribe to bypass your network ad blockers.
3. Use a virtual credit card number from Capital One or Citi cards so Metro sees a new credit card. Another benefit is you can close it out after your purchase to avoid any additional charges (even though it's unlikely).
4. If the above doesn't work, trying shipping to a different address like a relative or friend. Use the name of person at that address (since you don't live there). You will get some verification questions about that person, so you will need to know some info about that person such as the height listed on their driver's license, past address history, colleges attended, vehicle ownership history. You'll have to answer 3 questions from one of those categories (maybe a few I missed).
I can confirm this tablet works with the $10 T-Mobile tablet line even though hasn't officially been unlocked.
The original instructions for bypassing the SIM requirement was to hold the tablet in landscape mode, then tap the four corners in sequence of upper left, upper right, lower right, lower left. Repeat. Repeat again. (Twelve taps total.) Then press the volume down button for a moment till the message appears.
Someone later remarked the taps were unnecessary and only the volume down button press was needed. I tried that on two tablets and it worked for both.

the model is on the back i noticed but in incredibly tiny print. you have to phone photo it and blow it up to even see it. and it's not the same one bb offers trade in for (as we know, thats the wifi model)
based on response, i think i could have easily got 130-160
I have 3 lines on a Metro account, lines activated more than a month ago (iPhone 12 and Moto G Stylus). I'm able to login to the account with SMS OTP, but the lines themselves are inactive for calls due to 2nd month fee not paid.
Now, I'd like to get in on this tablet deal. Assume I've got a number to port-in from, how could I buy one?
1. From the website, it doesn't let me order - instead asks me to call CS to know why I can't order (obviously, because I have lines unpaid for). Does calling CS help to place a new order for the tab?
2. If at least 1 active line is mandatory to order a tablet, could I pay for only one of the 3 lines, and then order a tablet? Or should I rather look at ordering under spouse's name (BYOD) - to create a new metro account, and order from there?
Looking for the least expensive way to score one or more tablets for some kids I could think of.
Keeps glitching with price, took many tries but finally worked.

Should I close the tab and reopen Everytime?

very hard to justify any metro phone purchase any more.
even the se23 at this point is a pass

They did the switcheroo on me. My credit card showed the full $697 as pending charge.
The $40 plan, as it is the plan required at the check out page. See my attachments.

My card transaction also shows $710.
Have you contacted their customer service?
I still think it is worth it for ~120. (that's with 60 plan). It should work on t-mobile even while locked, according to many.
i would order 2-3 more i decided, but only if i dont have to call cs about them since it's a little annoying. if i could just order on the web i would.
so i tried like that guy said, order from the metro phone, make sure you only order on metro data connection not wifi.
when i tried to just use a browser that way it gave me ineligible to add line error (like it consistently has for me). when i used the mymetro app, it let me add, fill out cc address etc, but on the last click "purchase" it sent me to the "for your security, must call cs to complete your order". so, nope!
then i changed the address to add floor 1, as some said worked earlier. nope!
could try changing cc and a few other things i guess.
overall it seems silly to change little details though, at the end of the day you are ordering through an ACCOUNT and one would think that is what they blacklist. therefore any vpn etc should be pointless.
not worth spending the trouble/expense adding another $40 phone just to TRY with another account either. i'll only try if the trouble is minimal. these little 20/40/70 add up!
I MIGHT try calling again eventually, the fact it says to call makes me think maybe my account is still not locked from ordering from a cs (which would be the game over block). but idk. i keep in mind the supposed 4 limit as well, even though it's probanly not true, and i've now got 4 devices and the phone, total 5 devices, on this account.

i get all these for my nieces and tbh samsung just has cache with them. even tho i know samsung branding doesnt really mean anything vs one plus etc.

activated w sim card.
did some surfing using data.
took out sim.
sold as wi fi tablet.
1 person inquired abt using as 5g on metro.
i told them they can , but only after 2 months.
they were fine with that.
odd...that a metro customer would buy mine, rather from metro directly.
but they were happy.
according to them: "really nice tablet. thank you".
got 3.
kept 1 for son.
was gonna to keep 1 for me.
hoping to get another.
but get the "call rep" error
