Service can be activated online at https://metrobyt-mobile.com/resources/activate [metrobyt-mobile.com] as soon as the tablet ships. You'll need your order number, last name, and billing zip code.

To setup the tablet without inserting a SIM card, power on the tablet and wait for the initial "Welcome!" screen to appear. Then press the volume down button for a second, and a "NoSimLock is unlocked!!!" message appears. You can then tap the Start button and continue with setup without a SIM card. (However, if you later insert a SIM card into the tablet, it will initiate a factory reset and you will need to set up the tablet again.)

Your comment cannot be blank.

I went ahead and did the BYOD plan for $30 and was able to purchase the tablet immediately. I debated between that vs getting a new "free" phone first and then sign up for this tablet, but didn't really need a new phone and I'm not sure how long this deal will last if it takes 2-3 business days to get the phone. You'll need to get access to the SMS code sent to the new number before you can register your Metro account online. Total cost for the tablet was $3 (google voice # unlock) + $30 (BYOD plan) + $20 (tablet) = $53. Edit: YMMV, some people reported they had to call in to have an agent bump up their plan to $45 or $60 to place the order. The $30 plan worked for me.

Steps I took.
1. Signed up for a google voice number using a junk email.
2. Set up a voicemail PIN and then paid $3 to unlock the number. Follow these instructions: https://slickdeals.net/f/17325810-metro-by-t-mobile-port-in-new-number-offers-select-smartphone-30-days-service-from-40-free-shipping?p=169554114#post169554114
3. Signed up for the $30 plan using an eSIM. https://slickdeals.net/f/17143504-esim-bring-your-number-online-25-metro-by-t-mobile-single-line-phone-plan-unlimited-5g-data
4. After paying for $30 plan, I wasn't able to add the tablet initially. It showed an error saying call in (I didn't). I logged into the account with another browser and then was able to buy the tablet for $20. I'm not able to buy more than 1, the second attempt it errors with "Sorry, you are not eligible to add a new line".

Update: Metro won't allow you to add a second tablet to your shopping cart if the first one is already on order but not activated yet. You'll see a message on the tablet product page saying "Sorry, you are not eligible to add a new line." and the "Add to Cart" button is greyed out. You can activate the first order once you get the shipping notification email (even before you get it). This will allow you to add another tablet to your shopping cart. Use this link and enter your order # to activate the first tablet after it ships. https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/r...s/activate This doesn't necessarily mean you'll be able to successfully place the order (see update 2 below), but will allow you to add it to the shopping cart and attempt the order.

Update 2: I see a lot of people reporting that after they add the tablet to the shopping cart and try to place the order, they get message to call into customer service and are unable to complete the order. I saw this post mention the likely causes: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=170193645&postcount=24

Suggestions based on what worked for me.
1. Try incognito mode or private browsing mode on your browser.
2. Disable any browser ad blockers or whole network blockers such as pi-hole. Also try using a VPN such as Windscribe to bypass your network ad blockers.
3. Use a virtual credit card number from Capital One or Citi cards so Metro sees a new credit card. Another benefit is you can close it out after your purchase to avoid any additional charges (even though it's unlikely).
4. If the above doesn't work, trying shipping to a different address like a relative or friend. Use the name of person at that address (since you don't live there). You will get some verification questions about that person, so you will need to know some info about that person such as the height listed on their driver's license, past address history, colleges attended, vehicle ownership history. You'll have to answer 3 questions from one of those categories (maybe a few I missed).

I can confirm this tablet works with the $10 T-Mobile tablet line even though hasn't officially been unlocked.
If you insert the SIM, it will "brand" the tablet with a Metro splash screen as well as install a bunch of unwanted crapps. You can get rid of the crapware with a factory reset, but not the splash screen.

The original instructions for bypassing the SIM requirement was to hold the tablet in landscape mode, then tap the four corners in sequence of upper left, upper right, lower right, lower left. Repeat. Repeat again. (Twelve taps total.) Then press the volume down button for a moment till the message appears.

Someone later remarked the taps were unnecessary and only the volume down button press was needed. I tried that on two tablets and it worked for both.
So we all paid $50 extra for nothing!!☹️

Hmm, is there any added cost to get a new phone # on the BYOD plan vs porting in a number? I somehow thought for new Metro customers, porting in a number was a requirement to get in on this tablet deal and this seemed to be implied by some posts in the first few pages of this thread where people have talked about porting in a Google Voice #. I am kind of late to this thread and only went thru the first few pages of it though.
No added cost when I went through the process. After sign up, there is an option to port your number or request a new number. Went with the new number and paid $30 to start.

Did you sign up for a new number using eSIM or regular SIM? Wondering if there's no cost for either.

It sounds though that the $30 BYOD plan is not sufficient now to be able to order the tablet. Maybe it was before, but they've changed the minimum plan requirement?

I am trying to change name and address but Metro is not allowing me.
Trying to add Middle name initial but no seprate space for middle name so I was trying to add middle name initial behind first name with space like FIRST X but space is not allowed. How you changed ?

Was trying to change from APT X to Unit X but Metro is forcing me to use suggested name which is same original APT X
How did you change ?
No need for space for middle name. It should be fine.

Maybe try # instead of APT or UNIT? I live in a house without apartment numbers so having apartment numbers or not won't matter.

If I have already activated rt after my device shipped, I can use this method ( holding volume down) to avoid bloatwares rt? Just want to make sure activation is not required again from device setup as well ( to utilize the unlock after 6 months or 1 year)

Using that method will avoid installing the Metro bloatware.
It should unlock after 6-12 months if activated online, but I don't think anyone knows for sure, because this deal hasn't been around for that long.
Most people anyways just want to use it as a Wi-Fi device.

When you say activate online, does it mean activate the tablet online or activate the sim online as per the options in this Metro link: https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/r...s/activate?

Yes activate using the above link using the confirmation number, after that I could see the tablet line active in my metro account, shows device IMEI as well

Just an FYI for all of you who couldn't order more than 2 tablets or are getting blocked from ordering their 4th tablet. I have tried this method and it works:

1) Go into your Metro account and update the address (add unit number, floor number, etc.) under line one of your address (not the unit/apartment number box)
2) Add middle name initial to your first name (not absolutely needed)

The first two above changes your identity and location in the Metro system which allows you to order at least another two more tablets. Note you can leave your shipping address the same if you do not live in an apartment building because UPS will know the "Unit" or "Floor" is not relevant. Also, credit card verifies via zip code in their system.

4) Call +1-888-863-8768 and ask to purchase the Galaxy A9+ tablet
5) Make sure you use a different CC for every two purchases or so

Hope this helps! Let the ordering begin!!!!
Did exactly this, still no bueno.

The text goes to my gv number in my gmail account until it's fully ported. I believe it takes like 20days. Loo
For some reason I am not getting a txt from Metro PCS for the six digit code authentication. Basically I am stuck in limbo because they can't access my account and can't get the verfication. Gotta set time to go to the store for this. Such a hassle.

Not sure if it's been said in the previous 100 pages, but porting a line over is not required. You can set up a new phone line with the BYOD plan, as long as you have an open eSIM spot on your phone. I skipped the porting process altogether and picked a new phone number when creating my BYOD plan.
That's what I should have done.

I port in GV number for 10 phones without any problem. All went perfectly. I have to call in for each one to complete porting from GV and it took less than 10 minutes for each
You have to call in GV? Is there a number to call in Google Voice?

No, I called in MetroPCS to complete the porting process after I received the item and activated. Everything worked perfectly after 2 or 3 days of porting.

oh my mistake. I think we are talking about two different things.
I couldn't even order the tablet as I don't have a MetroPCS account. I was porting a GV number over to get a MetroPCS account to place the order but got stuck porting the GV number over.

If your order was cancelled and your GV wasn't released after 6 hours, then you have to call them to release the number. I got one that was stuck in the porting process for a month already and I hated to call them to release my GV number so that I can use it to try to order the phone again.
