I had an original Surface Go for a while and it was kind of nice as a secondary machine, but most models only had 4 GB of RAM and that just wasn't viable even in 2014 for more than very light use (and the 8GB models were much more). Looks like you can get a nice refurb Surface Go in a semi-usable config for $300 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/314993143115. I don't know if the Best Buy open box stuff is a 8 GB SSD model or a 4 GB eMMC model - which I think is a mistake to buy.
I personally switched to a refurb Surface Pro 7 when the price was right - it's a little more unwieldy but the performance difference is substantial in a manner where light use and productivity is significantly enhanced, even though I only got 8 GB of RAM.
I used Go 2 with 4g lte and m3 chip it was not horrible but needs more ram and faster storage for sure. But if you find one for $139 by all means grab this Go 3 that is very good machine for that small of amount. Travel wise it is perfect for casual tasks too.
I have the Surface Go 2 w/keyboard. It's fine for an ultra-portable Windows machine that you might use every few weeks. Compared to an iPad, it's painfully slow. Build quality is very good, however. Battery life is nothing special.
Thanks. Maybe I'll skip the surface. I use a Bluetooth keyboard right now with my iPad and thought a surface would be a good windows version of what I use now. I think ill just keep my desktop set up for windows based activities
leonovo duet windows get one used, it's a surface clone with a type cover that works as bluethooth when disconnected
I think lenovo's phasing them out. it has the same hinge mechanism as surface, microsoft license out the design to win hardware partners or something. comparible to but cheaper than a surface especially now on clearance or used.
Surface Go 2/3 weighs half that, and is <10" wide.
Not arguing.... just comparing the data
1.73lb Surface Go 2 with the Keyboard-- need to add Keyboard since there is a KB on LG Gram.
2.62lb Suface Pro 9 withe Keyboard - I am only showing this since LG Gram has a much bigger screen than 10" so comparing it to Go2 doesn't seem fair either since you're giving up a lot of screen space (not to mention other specs).
LG Gram 2.2lb sits right in the middle between Go 2 and SPro 9 with keyboard. I think weight with KB and bigger Surface Screen is a more appropriate comparsion especially if LG Gram is 15% lighter than SPro 9+keyboard.
Now... LG Gram overheats like crazy too I heard so it's not exactly a great pick. I looked at this when I wanted a super light weight laptop that is lighter than Macbook Air's 2.7lb also..
I struggled with the combined weight for Go 2 and SPro 9 with the hw keyboard because it was so close to a regular super lightweight laptop. Then I feel like I should just use a laptop that is close 2.62lbs and I'd get more out of the device since I always use a hw keyboard myself. I can't stand on-screen keyboards on form factors like iPad and Surface devices.
If someone does not need a hardware KB, I'd def recommend Go 2 or SPro 9 for sure.
End the end, I got all of them except LG Gram just to play around with them LOL!.. I still pick up my Macbook the most because I type on hw kb so much.
Note: I don't love this Go 2 keyboard because keys are so small and I have much more typos and it flexes a lot for me. I can put the keyboard FLAT on the table but it would still bounce up as I hit the keys trying to type fast. I won't use my Go 2 without it though.. I hate a separate bluetooth keyboard for it. I rather have the automatic on/off as the magnet attaches. So much better so there is that.

Didn't know that. In any case if someone is buying SP9 (not this Go size), they should wait for SP 10 especially if the ARM64 version kick ass! (for casual use).

Rumors are that Qualcomm lied about Elite chips, and that they are trash. Apparently OEMs don't want to put them in their laptops, that's how it leaked.

I have a first Gen go... Still going. What are you doing to make it slow?

Open box from $139.99, but none by me.

Repped, Thanks I really appreciate the effort you put into linking the surface
Thanks
I have gen 2. Streaming video on chrome and some light browsing works fine for me. Zoom I would just do zoom and zoom only.

Duet does have a faster process than Go models.

Of course take this with a grain of salt 🤷
