How many months/years of waiting is worth $9.95 to you?

This just got released last year, I believe. You might be thinking of the regular Baratza Encore (no espresso settings) which retails at 150 usd.

I have the standard encore from 7 years ago, their support has been great when I've had some issues here And there.

Thinking of upgrading for the occasional times I want to mess with espresso and selling the old one

I am not going to suggest that this is not a great grinder. It is. However, if you're looking for a solid grinder at about 1/3 the cost, this works great.

lol krups is trash, better off taking your beans and running them over with your car a couple times instead of using this. If you think the Baratza is trash and this is "solid" you dont know what youre talking about

It's not just the community: with Baratza, you also get a company that actually stands behind their product and wants you to be able to repair your machine, unlike where most US companies have pivoted to planned obsolecence. Baratza actually have videos on maintenance/repair, and you can buy all the parts direct as a regular consumer. For the Encore, they even put out videos on how to DIY upgrade it to better burrs.

I'm really interested in the DF54, but it's pretty apparent that the "Turin" branding is just reseller (Espesso Outlet) labeling, to try to make it sound vaguely Italian (which is silly, it would at least be called "Torino" if that was really the case). You can find plenty of DF40, DF64 on aliexpress, under various branding.

The support related reviews for the Turin brand on their own site (Espresso Outlet) are abyssmal. Some of them sound like a case of not knowing how to calibrate/etc, but equally… why wouldn't even just the reseller at least be able to manage telling people how to do that? There's videos on aliexpress about it for the df40, for instance. That's… scary bad levels of support. Multiple reviews claim the ionizer doesn't work at all. Some of the aliexpress vendors for df line grinders say you might get one unit or the other depending on stock, and makes you wonder if people are even getting what's claimed with these US df resellers.

So yeah… personally I'd wait out the DF stuff for a bit longer and see how it pans out. There's already another US reseller for the DF54. Then probably just order directly from China once it's available through one of the big aliexpress sellers. Meanwhile this deal here is a great price for a Baratza ESP. If I didn't already have two Encores with one modded, I'd probably just snag one now. I'm still tempted lol. Must… resist D:
I'll personally vouch for Baratza's support and parts availability -- as well as quality. I've had an Encore for almost a decade that's been operating smoothly, even though it's gone long periods without proper maintenance. A couple years ago, I wanted to swap the standard burr for their M2 (which I believe is standard on the ESP). I was able to go to Baratza's website and order the burr + other parts for maybe $30. I didn't really know what I was doing, but managed to get it done with their videos and some Googling, and the quality is great, especially for (no surprise) espresso.

If I didn't already have my upgraded Encore, I'd definitely grab this one.

I recently got this kitchenaid for $140. Is it worth getting the Baratza over it?

Does it get coffee grounds all over the place? My current one is horrible and I even put water into the beans and stir to try and get rid of the static but its awful

You can't read. I said the Baratza is great, but wanted to show other options.

That's weird I've run pounds through for espresso and it works perfect, I guess you just aren't capable of using it.

It is rated as the best super budget and I agree, I've been using daily many times since 2020 without any issues.

is this as messy as some of the reviews say? i don't have much counter space so i like that this model looks slimmer, but also need something that isn't so messy.
No, the issue is the lid somewhat blocks putting coffee in, that's the only negative I've seen. Just have a small cup to get beans out of bag to pour in. Depending on size of bag, it can become a hassle. I buy 5 pound bags and use the espresso scoop to get out enough so every cup is ground fresh. This grinder is awesome, regardless of what others say. Will it last forever? Who knows, but I've had since 2020 and run probably 50 pounds of coffee through it on finest setting for espresso without any issues.

I think it is, others may disagree.

To me it is a company purpose driven for people making quality coffee at home vs a company that makes products across various products, of which coffee is a small piece of.

To me $20 across how long you will be using these is not much time at all.

I would really look at how you are brewing coffee - what are you using? If it is specialty equipment or more importantly you are making espresso - then I would say make the switch to Baratza. If not, or it just isn't that important to you, then a mass produced grinder probably will work for you.

I use a Technivorm at my house and have never regretted my decision to move to a Baratza grinder.

I think more people would take issue with your buying 5 lbs bags of coffee to make your espresso (full disclosure - I do the same thing for cost). Most would say if the roast date is more than 30 days ago, your beans are too old.

Let me jump off my coffee soap box now I could do this all day and have a meeting in 2 hours I need to prep for.

Yeah, I separate into little foodsaver air tight bags and freeze them . The other people aren't economical and quite frankly stupid. I can spend just as easy, but I choose to buy the best at reasonable costs, invest and live a happy life. Most people that show off, really are broke or will be trying to impress. I have kope luak, world's most expensive coffee, but I don't care, I like lavazza and cafe bustela. Happy gouramond life!

The static buildup on mine is insane. Ground coffee is so statically charged that it sticks to the inside of the plastic bin in clumps and explodes everywhere when you try to dump it out. Cannot use this without making a huge mess

Exactly that. Encore purchased 10 years ago. Updated to M2 burrs last year

Spritz your coffee with some water. Won't hurt the burrs and prevents static.

Grind ... wait 20-30 seconds - no static

Dump in your beans, then add a few drops of water before you grind them. No muss, no fuss!
