You're thinking of the Kingkiller Chronicle by Pat Rothfuss. This series is by Brandon Sanderson and he is reliably releasing new books every few years.

Book 3 and 4 are already published, book 5 is written and will be released in December 2024.

Absolutely fantastic series from my favorite author.

Finished book 4 recently in a 4 book marathon. Had read book 1 long ago and gave up half way through book 2. But rereading start to end, it's an amazing series and it really picks up on book 4. Each subsequent books picks up the pace. I got side tracked reading so many other series the last few years but this is my top favorite so far.

My daughter mentioned this when I was discussing picking up another fantasy series. She has ready this book only. I read it, then proceeded to binge books 2 to 4. Book 5 releases mid December 2024.

This is going to be a 10 book series and 4 books have already been released.

While Sanderson is not as good a writer as GRRM or Patrick Rothfuss, I hold him in just as high esteem specifically because he continually releases new works and never leaves the fans hanging. I have no doubt that he'll finish all 10 books of this series in a timely manner.
