FYI - from the specs on Annke's page : BNC, switchable TVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS kit ..

I prefer IP PoE now ..

If you have super old coax system with good cabling, then perhaps consider this if you are on a super tight budget.

At this price point expect smaller sensor cameras

Great info. It's nice to see knowledgeable people trying to help others out.

What would you recommend if you wanted a total in-house system (no outside control of your footage, like ring), but don't need a ton of cameras?

I want something with maybe 3 or 4 cameras, that I can pan and zoom with, records to nvr, and is really good about picking up motion. It doesn't need to be 4k.

I can do PoE, by running cable, but is there a reliable wireless option? How reliable would a wireless option be?

Hi frugal

Wifi security camera systems tend to become problematic, especially as you add more cameras.

Ptz cameras, while seem like a great idea have numerous downsides I did not think about when I first started learning.

An good outdoor rated camera gets to be rather large due to the lens and motor and gears as well as the need to be properly sealed vs weather.

Also ptz cameras are often not looking where you need them to .. and the ones that are nice with large sensors quickly hit your budget rather hard.

Thus .. I typically recommend those new to security cameras to get one good dahua or hikvision oem ip poe 4mp 1/1.8" sensor varifocal camera, a small poe switch and a good length of cat5e cat6 cable and start playing around and learning .. this approach will save you money in the end.
