I really wish phone makers wouldn't use the curved edge screen gimmick anymore. I would already have bought one of these otherwise. I drop my phone way too much to take that risk.

I completely agree the 16/256 is much better than the 8/128

better phone than the 8t+ ?
I still love my 8T+, but the security updates are going away sometimes this fall I believe.

Wow they really screwed over people who pre-ordered.

Oneplus must be really desperate to move these

This isn't Samsung it happens every single time with OnePlus. I pre ordered and I feel just fine.

Not really its not like you can put a case over the screen. Stupid design choice imo one drop on the side and you're probably done. Great phone otherwise perhaps a bit too big.
Well you can put a cover over the screen... though it most likely won't help a serious fall. It will help prevent the screen from getting scratched if it lands on a rock or uneven surface so they are nice for that.

I've used the metal cases that are typically no named China made metal cases but they have screws holding it together with a silocone insert. They have a raised ridge far superior to anything I've ever seen on a phone case. Yes they add weight and size and quite a bit cause the cases are bigger in general. But incredibly durable and I recommend them to people that drop there phone a lot or don't have insurance.

I dropped my phone from a 3 story window that landed on concrete of the basement level. The phone had a line in the screen but was otherwise fine. I replaced the screen and it cost me like $300 so it wasn't a complete save. On the other hand... I was impressed because the phone worked and was not shattered. The case completely fell apart but the phone didn't.

My review was not even accepted but I included pictures and everything. I know it's hard to believe but, these types of phone cases are insane. Been using them since my Galaxy s9+ cause I'm always on the job and am prone to dropping when taking pictures or video on a jobsite.

This is what they look like, not specific brand cause there are plenty.

Just bought it a few days ago, delivering today - sure hope OnePlus honors their 14 day "Price Change Refund Policy" for the $100 trade-in (vs. my $50) without too much fuss.
I've called them twice today. Both times got pretty "rough" customer experience. Long story short, save your nerves and just take a $50 loss.

their phones are curved screen right? are they ok to work with?
i remember older samsung phones were big PIA with their curved screens..
"older Samsung phones"? You mean last year's model? Lol.

I have the S22 Ultra. I hate curved edge screens but made the sacrifice for the premium model of the time. The S24 Ultra is the first one to ditch the curved edge display in a long time. Sad that it took Samsung that long to realize that people haven't cared about curved edge panels for years.

The only time I have had a screen crack was on my 7Tpro. It had a case on it but that didn't help due to the curved screen. Screen replacement cost was ridiculous and would have been taken time as well. Funny thing is I prefer a flat screen anyway.

I have a OP 12 with a curved screen. A case absolutely helps. I just have a bumper case, but if you drop it face down on a display surface the screen won't hit. The curved part isn't at any greater risk in my experience. Source, I've dropped my phone face down.

Good to know, thanks - though I don't have a student account, and can use another email to get the $30 off coupon, seems like it would be better just to return it & order again vs. forego the $50 difference...?
