I had the large size but replaced it with another brand. The lids on these are weak and will start to leak after awhile. I had to replace mine every 6-9 months I'd say. Decided to switch instead of ordering another replacement set of lids.
these things get moldy and are nearly impossible to thoroughly clean
it will make your dog sick
this "deal" is not worth a sick animal, there are plenty of other fountain-based options that are more effective if you feel too hassled to fill your dog's water bowl regularly
The bowl will get pretty nasty/dirty before that 3 gallons needs filling if you have a medium or small breed dog.
Its probably fine for a big dog that drinks a lot.
2 dogs in our house that are north of 100lbs... nope... still needed to clean it out more often than i need to fill it. bought mine for way more than this and now its sitting on fb marketplace.

I've been looking to switch, which one do you suggest?
none of them. they are all difficult to clean, and, unless you have a whole lot of large dogs, they get scummy long before they are empty, so you have to lift the jug off to clean it anyways, at which point you might as well just be refilling the bowl..
best thing to do imo is buy a stackable/nesting water bowl that is sized so when it is approaching empty, it is still clean. then buy a 2nd. every time you refill, use the new one and toss the old one in the dishwasher.
a lot of people think that because dogs will drink gross water outside, there is nothing wrong with the scummy water in their water bowl... difference is... the bacteria in the bowl was put there by their mouths, and is primed to attack their gums/teeth/gut.
Had this for a couple years and haven't noticed any mold.. yall not cleaning them?
idk that mold is the right word, but it is the scummy slimy film that forms on the bowl. and it develops before the thing is half empty even with huge dogs drinking out of it. the vets ive talked to have unanimously said that that scum is bad for your dog..

Oo. I wonder if that's to do with slobber. I have a whippet and I don't notice that at all with her. But when I have a golden or St. Bernard over it'll get gross like that sometimes after awhile.
My GSD finishes 1-gallon one in 2-3 days (after running outside quite a bit). I clean it every refill to prevent green stuff and set it away from sunlight. Will buy this trying out.

same way you (should) wash the bowl every so often for a normal water bowl.
Besides mold, they can also get bits of food sucked back into the water tank causing the water to foul quickly.
I went to Home Depot and picked up a couple of 2-gallon buckets. They're stable, easy to clean, and hold enough water to go 3-4 days between refills.
